Need help with my Borla Axle back setup
I recently installed the Borla S type axle back on my 2010 SS, I like the deeper tone I get with it, but it just needs something more. I like the way it sounds when idleing from a cold start, but after car has been running for a while I can barely hear it while idleing. I dont want to get obnoxiously loud or add LT headers. Is there anything I can do to give it a little more bite? Would the Edelbrock X pipe 6716 do anything? Oh one more thing, I also have a CAI intake on the car, dont know if that matters about anything... Anyone have any suggestions, other than ripping it out and starting over. Thanks

I have the same issue, but with my Corsa. It sounds so nice when it starts up from a 2-3 day stand-still, but then it just looses the nice tone into a quiet phase.

I heard that if you don't plan on adding LT's then get the ATAK. If you do plan on installing LT's even later on then get the S type. I think the ATAK is what your looking for.

Try the Solo high flow cats.
They will give a lot of sound without needing a tune. |

like fish said...high flow cats. I have the Borla S type...I started with the axle back as well because I needed an immediate improvement over stock when I purchased the car, I was broke as hell after the purchase so I could only afford the axle back...
I love the tone, I think its the best on the market...it seems you agree, so you want the volume increase. If you are strapped on cash. Go high flow cats first....or just dive into the whole thing. I went right into high flow cats and long tubes... no X pipe will not give you the sound LEVEL increase you seem to want. It WILL however give you an even nicer tone than you already have, but for actual decibel levels...no You may not want that much volume increase that comes with long tubes and high flows.. High flows will give you the sound you want, and for much cheaper than LTs. If you find yourself wanting MORE sound and MORE performance...then keep your high flows and get long tube headers as well. Just remember headers generally require a tune and tune will kill your power train warranty unless it is a factory defect. This is where it gets fun...

Had the same issue with my Corsa. Solo HF cats fixed that issue. Such a huge difference!

It is pretty substantial and increases the decel pop dramatically. I have since installed short tube headers and that seems to have toned both down quite a bit. I will do hi-flow cats soon. Here is a launch clip I made for Cold Air Inductions.

I dont mind the drone, it is slight, but I dont notice it anymore. So it looks as though high flow cats will help me out. Anyone have any sound clips of Borla axle back with high flow cats? Will the cats change the pitch and tone of the exhaust, or just make it louder? How about the X-pipe, that not worth it?

I initialy had just the Borla S type axle back, then added the rest of the cat back system including the x pipe. Didnt really reduce the drone but gave it a nice deeper tone. Fat mat insulation in the trunk helped too.
