High flow Converter question?

I have a 2010 L99 with catback MBRP 3 inch exhaust. I tried doing some research about high flow catalytic converters. I don't know much about them and need "schooling" on them. The whole point of me wanting them is to make my car a bit louder. I don't want headers because I don't want to void the warranty. Any suggested threads for me to read? Will high flow converters make much difference on sound or is it a waste of money? Thanks for the help.

High flow cats won't make that much of a difference in the sound. You already modified the exhaust system..so if the dealer wanted to be a di** about, if there was a problem exhaust related they could still void you on that anyway.
They have to prove the aftermarket part contributed to the problem in question.

I guess you have a point but my dealer told me a cat back system was fine just don't touch the cats or exhaust manifolds to keep my warranty.

My dealer told me I was fine as long as I didn't touch the computer, i.e. tune, thats why I went with cats instead of long tubes. My car was quite a bit louder with the cats, I have the SOLO ones. Still on stock cat back until tommorow when my flowmaster gets here.

This is my problem. One person tells me it won't make much of a difference and the next person tells me it is quite a bit louder. I would not be interested unless it did make a noticeable difference in sound. Maybe I should have done a muffler delete. Oh well. 1k exhaust already installed.

I don't know why lexlueger said it won't make a difference in sound. Mine was a good bit louder after I added my Solo hi-flo cats.

Just being louder does not always make for a good tone. It is the quality and tone of the exhaust that one needs to look for. For the street anyway.

I can see your frustration. I listened to a lot of different combinations at Camarofest. So I'm starting with some SLP II's and after that, I'm thinking about some long tube headers.

Good luck with your cats.

I should have said that other than making it louder it greatly improved the tone. Even my wife thought it sounded much better without making it obnoxiously loud.

Mine is noticebly different sound, hard to say louder or not. I gained 2mph in the 1/4-mile, which equates to about 20hp.

High flow cats do make the car a bit louder on idle and when you rev it i would say about 5x louder then stock plus good performance wise as well. JBA or SOLO are both great.

I have a set of DT headers and a borla s-type catback ordered, but haven't made up my mind on which hi flow cats to order. Either Solo or JBA, but really don't know if Solo is $200 better than JBA. Anyone have any bad experinces with the JBA hi flow cats?

Mine are JBA. 2mph in the 1/4 and about 0.15 ET gain. Worth it, in my book. I'll be adding the JBA shorties next to see if that makes a difference.

Me and a friend have the exact same car's, L99's. We both put MBRP catback 3" only at first but he ended up puting high flow cats and his car is quite a bit louder than mine and has a deeper tone !
