Exclamation Locking Fuel Fill door Question

Hello all I have a question, I noticed that my gas tank lid does not lock at all even if the car is locked is this correct? I own a BMW X5 and when you lock the car the gas door also locks. Do I have an issue with this fuel door not locking? Thanks

No you have no issues. The door doesn't lock.

You may want to pick up either a locking gas cap or a locking gas door. However neither will lock/unlock automatically... you'll have to carry a key around.

If i heard correctly somewhere here. There is a screen in the fuel neck that prevents a hose reaching the tank. The fastest way is puncturing the tank from below which has been report around the country, regretably.

kermit1 is right

Puncturing the gas tank is all the rage right now. A--holes!! A cop friend told me not to waste my money. SUVs ae the big target as they hold a lot of gas and have easy access to the tanks.
