Slick centercap removal method

I got some autobot centercaps and didn't want to take the wheels off or jam a screwdriver in there, so i got a little creative:

1-3/4" socket, brake bleeder, and weatherstrip. Sucked the centercaps right out.

Interesting. I like it though. How'd you come up with that idea?

Thanks! I just sat in front of the wheels with a screwdriver in hand thinking "there has got to be some way to get these out without using this screwdriver."

I probably could have pulled all four wheels in the time it took you to assemble that pump. Cool idea though!

Probably. I don't have any plastic coated lug nut sockets yet. Recommendations?

Plastic coated sockets for the stock lugs? You won't hurt those lugs. The stock lugs have a stainless steel cap on them, they are tough. A simple deep-socket on a 1/2-drive ratchet is all you need to get them off and back on snug, then a torque wrench to do a final pass. If you want to protect the wheel, a simple layer of electrical tape on the outside of the socket works, although it isn't needed for most wheels.

Really? Yeah it's the lugs i'm worried about. I can just see those shiny things getting scratched from a socket.
