AM Reception After ******** install

Hello,

I installed the ******** complete package. After installing I have almost no AM reception. Tuning to any station gives a loud whine that changes pitch up and down. My first thought was alternator whine...BUT...this happens even with the engine off. I have already checked connections for good ground, tried ground loop eliminators on the rca connections, and moved the power wires as far as possible from the signal wires. Does not seem to be an issue on any other source. Any ideas?

No ideas but one question...Who listens to AM anymore ? I mean with FM, XM, and ipods I could care less if my radio picked up AM but thats just me.

I'm sorry to say, but there is no way that ********'s harness would cause any issues with reception of any sorts.

Is there anything else that could have changed?

I found the issue...I had lost the rear left speaker. One of the wires in the ******** harness had come loose...where they are crimped together in between the two plugs. I realized the one speaker was out, and just spiced this wire back together. This also fixed the am reception issue. Must have been creating a ground loop or something with only one side of the rca connected.

For the guy who's wondering...I listen to AM radio. Local sports, talk, etc. I also use the FM and XM. I love when someone answers a question with "why you want to do that anyway". Very helpful.

I did have the same issue with tint on another car causing AM reception issue. The antenna was in the back glass and the tint blocked it. Have had this one tinted for a while and no issues though. Thanks for the thought on that though.

Hey, glad you found the issue and that you were able to resolve it! Sorry I could not have been of more help, but your question had me stumped for a while.
