KBB and dealers

Does dealers usually honor or go by kelly blue book value? KBB is giving me $25k dealer trade in value for my 2011 1 LT/RS with 4500 miles.
If this is true than I will trade my car in yesterday

Not usually. I am getting about 30% less on mine. Taking it to Carmax today to see if they will offer me any more.

Cool

We printed out the "Trade-in" and the "Retail Value" .....
There was a $4000 difference...
While making the deal, we pulled these out.
*** We got $1700 over Trade-in value for our car...
Print out the KBB values... Wait & see what the dealer offers.
If the offer is lower.. Then show the dealer the KBB...
If they don't honor that, then move on to another dealer.
Used car values are up 20%...
There is a shortage of Pre-Owned vehicles right now........

I recommend Carmax. I did that for my Sporttrac and I only lost $400 compared to all the publications I compared to.

Cheers

30% less from 25k!? so a dealer only offered you about $18k for a 2011 1LT/RS?? Thats ridiculous!

Any update on what they offered you at carmax?

and thats for your 2010 right? I wonder what the dealers will offer me for my 2011 with only 5000 miles. KBB states $25k so even if I can get 24k for trade in than I will most likely go for it but I am not sure if another camaro is on my mind. I might just go back to STi but M1 is looking really tasty. I contacted becky but she never got back to me.. hmmmm.

High mileage compared to model year depreciation.

Dealers usually don't pay alot of attention to KBB, NADA, and the like anymore.
Most times they price your trade according to what a similar car/ similar mileage will fetch at auction in your area.

Typically a dealer is nowhere near what KBB says. They have their own little trade in value book. They will typically give you less than what they show to be going for at wholesale auctions. However, it is evident that camaros are a hot commodity and the value on those even at wholesale auctions is pretty close to what KBB has told you. This is amazing. Still a high demand for these cars with so many out there. Carmax is your best bet but if the dealer wants to make a deal ono what you are buying they will put more into your car.

Use the NADA guide. Many banks and dealers use that as their reference.

Carmax used to make good offers. Now, they really lowball. I stopped going there all together.
