First of all i would like to say hello to you all. I have followed this site for a while now and love the updates you fine folks put on here about our lovely Camaro. I am currently in Iraq at the moment serving the greatest country on earth. I will be returning in June or or some were around there. YAY!!! I have saved a considerable amount for a down payment but the only problem i have with getting one is location location location. I am stationed in germany and the shipping would kill me. I guess the question i have is should i wait to pre-order one and run the risk of not getting one until 2 years from now until i return home. Or, preorder one at a dealer and run the risk of not being around to recieve it and the order goes un-bought.

First off stay thanks for your service and stay safe over there. I would really recommend you just keep saving until you're back in the states and can plop down an even bigger payment. You answered this as soon as you said you didn't want to ship the car overseas, no point dealing with trying to order and then paying interest on a car from overseas just so you can own the thing while it sits parked halfway across the world IMO.

Thank you for your service. I served 2 terms in Iraq, All of 04 and 06 (Kirkuk and Basara). I'd say wait.... Initial shipping will be a nightmare, and bringing it back via the military will be rough, (I knew someone that got rats all in there engine and chewed up all the wiring. I would just wait... (I know it'll be tough!)

First, Thanks for serving our Country.

Second, I would just wait. the shipping time to get there would be a month or longer. the shipping time would be the same to get it back home when you leave... So if I was you about 8 weeks before I came back I would seee if I could get a family member to get the local dealer to put in an order for you (If you have arranged someone with the power of attorney) or try to go through the military purchase program. By the time you get home your car will be there waiting on you or shortly afterward...

Thank you for your cervice. Stay safe! if i were you i would keep waiting. save as much as you can and wait till you can actually be home to get one. My best friend got his truck when stationed and till this day said he should have waited till his service was over. either way goodluck and stay safe

for the first few months they will be, but once they are up and running there will be plenty of camaros to get. be patient we will all be driving them soon!!!

How much longer do you have until you PCS from Germany? Are you going to stay overseas? I know kinda weird I'm asking these questions but I myself am in the military and I just moved back to the States from Europe. The only down side like you said earlier if you were to pre-order the car now it would have to be from a dealer in the states then you would have to ship it to europe, I think the cost would run around 1k and up to ship to Germany that's how much the shipping company was charging that shipped my vehicle back to the states but of course it's free for us military(Goverment funded)

It's a bummer that Chevrolet stopped there military sales program that would have made it alot easier for you to order overseas. Will I hope this kinda help you stay safe out there. I was in Balad from Fall 07-Winter of 08.

Well i have untill december 2010 in Baumholder germany (the rock) i was in Fob Hammer about 40 miles east of bagdad till they movrd out brigade to camp striker smack dab in the middle of victory. I guess i will have to wait for my 2SS/RS until i am back home :( on the plus side, i get to see what developes as in a Z and convertible.
