Nashville Superspeedway 1/4mi strip

there is a petition circulating to try and get the owners of the Nashville Superspeedway to complete plans and construction of a 1/4mi drag strip.

currently, there is an 1/8mi strip, but the closest 1/4mi strips are in Bowling Green and Huntsville. that's too far to drive for most people, and it would give more regional and national clubs a central place in the Southeast to congregate and enjoy some fun, legal racing.

here's the petition
Quote:
To: Dover Motorsports, Incorporated

We, the undersigned, hereby petition the owners/operators of the Nashville Superspeedway (Dover Motorsports, Incorporated (hereafter DMI)) to finish planning and begin construction of a planned 1/4 (quarter) mile dragstrip at the current Nashville Superspeedway facility.

In order to promote safe speed contests, and in order to best prevent the dangers associated with illegal street racing, we urge DMI to recognize the need for and almost guaranteed success of a 1/4 mile dragstrip at the Nashville Superspeedway for local and regional racers. As the closest venues for 1/4 mile drag racing are currently located in Bowling Green, Kentucky and Huntsville, Alabama, the distances are prohibitive to many racers and instead go racing on the streets of Nashville.

Completion of the Nashville Superspeedway Dragstrip would encourage not only local racing competitions, but national sanctioning bodies such as the NHRA, IHRA, NDRA (NOPI Drag Racing Assocation), NMRA (National Mustang Racing Association), IDRC (Import Drag Racing Circuit) and other such bodies to host a regional or national event, due to the central location of said track. These regional and national events would create guaranteed exposure for the Nashville Superspeedway and provide much needed income to the track in between Superspeedway events.

So, we the undersigned, hereby declare our intention to fully support a 1/4 mile dragstrip at the Nashville Superspeedway and strongly encourage Dover Motorsports, Incorporated to recognize the desires of Middle Tennessee racers.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
please show your support of the Nashville area racers, and sign the petition!

Sadly, I signed the petition 2 years ago. We can see how fast DD Motorsports plans to finish it. They were (at one time) planning to try to land an NHRA date. I guess those plans fell through so they stopped building it. I agree, Tuesday/Thursday/Friday night T&T would be great here.

Never knew there was a petition going on till now. I just signed it though. I mean the only 1/4 in TN I know of is in Memphis. We need one here in Nashville! Lets keep this thread alive!

I went friday and ran the 1/8th. That track has a lot of potential! If they build it up to a 1/4 I bet business would do more than double!
