So I finally ordered the painted antenna from RPI Designs. I purchased it from them because it was "cheap"er than other places. That's where I went wrong. Don't get Me wrong, I have a painted engine cover from RPI Designs that I love and gets a lot of attention at Cruise Nights and Car Shows.

I tried to install it but failed miserably. When I ordered it from RPI designs their website specifically asked if I had a Sunroof or not. I do not, I ordered it and I waited for almost a month for the Antenna to arrive. I was ecstatic, it was HOT!! I rushed home and attempted the install. I must admit at this point after trying and trying to fit my huge head in up under the headliner and between the back rear deck lid I had to call Mrs. SSOOCH to the rescue. She was able to get Her little frame in there perfectly. We (she)removed the stock one and we put in the "new" antenna. it wasn't sitting flush and it was crooked!! Well I drove around like this for a day and a half to see if it would settle or whatever. It didn't So I came home early from work because it was bugging the **** out of ME!!! Mrs. SSOOCH again climbed in the back seat and removed the new antenna and we compared the two antennas. The original Antenna was GM Part #92232294 and the new antenna from RPI Designs was GM Part #92239706. We looked and looked and the only thing we could find was that the original antenna had a bracket that was a lot more shallow than the new one. So we simply put the old bracket on the new antenna. Everything else looked absolutely identical. We (Mrs. SSOOCH) re-installed the painted antenna with the bracket from the original antenna. It worked great and looks awesome now.

So my lesson learned. Buy your painted Antenna from Becky Rodger's at Rodger's Chevrolet. And before you swap parts make sure that they look the same.

I'm a little Mad at RPI Designs right now but I guess it's my own damn fault for not inspecting the part I was installing.

That is interesting though, that the two differences between the antennas is the mounting bracket.
