Does anyone know why the LS3 in the Camaro has less HP than the LS3 in the Corvette?
The LS3 in the Camaro is rated at 426 HP vs. 430 in the Vette? I thought they were the same exact engine! Why is it rated 4 more on the Vette?

Marketing and exhaust system would be the two best bets.

Could be a slightly different tune as well.

I was thinking the exhaust system too. Also, the Vette is rated at 436 HP with the optional dual mode exhaust. That exhaust should have been offered on the Camaro.

Instinct says the Vette needs to be on top...yes it's faster due to 'glass but the big dog may need to be rated higher to remain GM's king of the hill. Maybe an unwritten rule?

That's been a well established for GM since 1970. I'm fairly certain the last GM model to have more horsepower available as an option would be the LS6 Chevelle. This is probably why the CTS-V and ZL-1 have the LSA and not the LS9 like the ZR-1 does. Seems like the Corvette always had to be top dog.

If they rated it at 430 all the c6 ls3 owners would be crying about it.
