How many people had salesman that didn't know much about the Camaro?

In the past, I have had salesmen that knew their cars in and out. I just purchased a 2 SS/RS RJT and while talking to the salesman, he kept getting the lost look. I told him I was looking for an SS without leather seats, and he told me that the V-8 only came with leather seats!!! I explained the difference between 1SS and 2SS. I then told him I want a manual 6 speed, and he said they only came with 5!!! I finally told him politely that I wanted a different salesman. All this dealership sold was Chevrolet, not GMC, Cadies or Buick's.....just Chevy. The sales manager wanted to know what the problem was, and I just explained what was going on. My original salesman was told to shadow my new one so he could "learn" about the Camaro. Has anyone else had this problem?

I had one salesman come out to talk and I asked one question, he didn't have the answer but told me he was a Ford guy! I promptly drove away.

Not to that extent, but I have had that problem. It's rather awkward spending half of the test drive telling the salesman about the car, but I've done it too. The conversation usually goes like this:

Kudos for asking for a different salesman. If he's not willing to learn his job, he doesn't deserve the commission.

He didn't even know the convertable needed extra chassis stiffening. At my job, I try to learn as much as I can, but I guess some people are wired different. The other salesman knew his stuff though...

Actually I had to tell my salesman to STOP telling me about it because I just wanted to get in it and drive the piss out of it.

But I did have one in the past that I had to tell him about the engine, features, and difference in trim levels. He had worked at the dealership for 10 years and the car had been out for 4 years. I went elsewhere to buy. So I understand what you mean.
