Burning smell when revving engine

When I rev my engine to show it off of course, I smell a clutch like burning smell. Anyone know what that might be or experienced this? I never smell it when driving around town, only when I put the clutch in and rev it up. 2010 LS3 SS 6 Spd. Most the time I just refrain from doing this. But occasionally I want to rev it up and It has been doing this for almost a year now. So I think any coating that might be burning off would be gone by now. I took it to the dealer when it first started happening and they couldn't reproduce it with normal driving of course and I guess I forgot to mention it was when I revved it up.

take it back and see what they say. Do you have headers or any mods?

It might have been the clutch. I can't imagine the cats making the smell, just because the cats don't really have any moving parts that could be grinding/catching.

Dont push the clutch it when you rev your car. Leave it in neutral.

Nice one Dave that's probably it heh heh No everything is stock so no mods yet. I agree and think it's something with the clutch. I'll try with it just in neutral and see if it still does it. Good idea. Thanks

My car use to smell like it was burning oil until I installed an oil catch can. Totally different smell than a clutch though.

And don't sit at a red light with the car in gear and the clutch disengaged. Not good for the clutch or the throw out bearing.

This happened to me alot when I first got mine. Problem for me, I was usually over-reving past the red line and sometimes it was while gunning it from a dead stop. I'd be going 50mph in 1st gear before I knew it. It also happened when I had too much gas pedal and didn't let out enough clutch; I'd be high revs but no power and have to clutch again. I thought for sure I messed up my clutch. But now it doesn't happen anymore.
