Window Tint and Massachusetts Inspection

I just got my windows tinted and was wondering if anybody has had problems getting a sticker. I did 35% front and 20% rear as suggested by the shop doing the work. I guess the law is 35% all around if you have dual mirrors.

Everything is good. I haven't had any problems yet.I will say that darker cars with dark interior makes the windows look darker than normal.

you should have no problems there is no restriction for the rear windshield and the quarter panel glass there is no way to test it at a inspection station if your windows are at 35% the legal limit there is no way u can fail ... for tint atleast

If you just went with straight 35%, you will fail if they test it, since they are already 70% from the factory. That's a combined ~24.5%, which is well below the legal limit. You have two choices, get it redone to equal a metered 35%(which should be a 50% film), or try and find a place that's not very strict on tint. Car looks good though.

I love the way it looks too... My inspection isn't due until next March so I have some time to find a place that isn't strict on tint. There must be a lot around because I have seen a lot of cars with darker tint than mine driving around.

PM me the place you get your sticker. I might have to take a road trip next year to get mine.

Like he said above...our cars have 70% tint from factory so you will definately fail an inspection....Best bet is to go in with your windows down on a nice hot day and hope for the best.

As a Law enforcement side, you shouldnt get much trouble, its not extreme....Anything pushing 15% is a bit extreme.

I'm confused. which isn't surprising really but I have to ask. Should I go 35% on the door windows, 50% on the quarter panels and 20% on the rear? Also About how much does this cost?

If you want to pass inspection your roll down windows in mass cant exceed 35%....if you put 35% tint on your already 70% tinted windows you will endup with something like 22%, which is way under...you need to find a high 40's tint or above. IF you tint over tint...its darker
