Resonator delete?

I have a catback Magnaflow exhaust with an x-pipe installed on my SS. The problem I have is that its pretty quiet... It wasnt the rumbling beast I was expecting... A couple of my friends tell me that its probably because I dont have a resonator delete. Does that mean I have the wrong exhaust installed? Can I "delete" the resonators by installing shortie headers instead? Or am I doomed and I have to live with my decision on my installed exhaust system?
