New RS Headlights

Sorry if this has been asked...but, I just bought stock RS headlights to replace my non-RS setup. Since I'm not familiar with the RS lights, can someone please tell me:

1) Do the halos come on when the lights are on, or can you turn on the halos separately?

2) What brigthness are the bulbs? (6k, 8k, 10k, etc)

3) Is the halo itself an HID or it's just the headlight that's HID?

4) Are both the low beam and highbeam HID?

5) I believe I need a plug/play harness for these RS headlights since I had non-RS, correct? Where can I purchase them?

Any input is greatly appreciated for this RS-ignorant member.

2) What brigthness are the bulbs? (6k, 8k, 10k, etc)

4300K is oem

Just the headlight is hid

4) Are both the low beam and highbeam HID? Yes

5) I believe I need a plug/play harness for these RS headlights since I had non-RS, correct? Where can I purchase them? not sure. Give Patrick or Gene a call.

Bajamoon, you're awesome! Thanks for the quick reply...

As a result, I have a few other questions..hope you can help out a fellow San Gabriel Valley-er some more

1) What do you mean by correct switch? My car is a 2SS non-RS

2) If I want to change my lights to a 6000k, then I need to buy a DS1 bulb, correct? (or so that's what I think it's called)

3) Any Camaro clubs you go to around SGV since I'm local, too?

SS should have the RS package standard.

The switch he's talking about is the light switch nob. It's slightly different in non RS as those cars have fog lights and not drls. Shouldn't be a problem to switch the switch also.

On the RS package your fogs are drls and the HIDs stay off when you are driving. On yours since your headlights are your drls, on your RS headlights your HIDs might always be on when you are driving.

The SS isn't standard with the rs package. And Smoke is correct about the knob. The bulb is a ds1 and you can replace them cheap on eBay. Just did mine. As for meets check the socal section. I would add a link but I'm on my phone. Check the socal heat turners thread under local meets. Next Sunday at a park in Rowland heights. Pm me if you need anything.

Okay, so my current switch should be able to turn off the DRLs. And, a park in Rowland Hts? I figure it's Shabarum (sp?) Ahhhh...the memories there. Wish I can make it next Sunday but got plans...but I'll check the head turners thread for local meets. I appreciate all of your help.

You can not use the RS switch in a non RS, You will need to do 1 of some things, Get a harness with a relay that will cut the power in the day time, or get a harness and cut the spring in side the headlight switch and then have a Manuel headlight switch, There is some one that can reprogram you BCM, But i think you will need a harness any way to go from a 3 pin connector to a 4 pin connector.

here is a pic of what the harness looks like.

To answer #5: Todd Otto sells a wiring harness to convert from non-RS to RS lights. He used to be on here as "ottobody," but I'm not sure if he is still around. Here is a link to his website: http://www.ottobody.com/ with a link to contact him at the bottom of the page.
