How fast is the V-6?

I have a 2011 1LT,Black,A6,orange rally stripes, cai, polished 19" wheels,1Lt badges, sunroof, gauge package. Was messing around the other day and tap shifted into 3rd at 75mph...wound it out almost to the rev limiter and got it to 114 mph! Wow...how fast will this thing go. I am curious what you other people have experienced.

From the factory yours is limited to 157 mph. I've not tested that though because I don't have access to a closed road where it would be safe.

Limited to 155 from factory IF you have the Pirrelli P-Zeros, otherwise limited to 118 IIRC.

Speed limiter is determined by speed rating of the factory tires

The 155 is for the SS. It is rating of tires and the weight of the vehicle. In his case he has the 1LT with the 19" wheels that come with the PZeros.

Don't forget you have 300+hp and gearing to go 150+mph.

I got my stock 275hp, 94z28 up to 154 mph before letting off. Most cars are capable of going much faster than most people think.

Not flaming you dude... but it'll go faster than most states' speed limit laws will allow. It's always interesting to read peoples' comments and questions on how fast a vehicle will go. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all about the power of the vehicle and the ability to go fast, but where most folks get confused is how horsepower relates to torque. Although the two are not independent, many people confuse them. Horsepower relates more to top speed and overall power of the engine, whereas torque relates to the seat of the pants reaction when you stomp on the gas. THAT'S what most folks want since running 150 MHP is not only impractical, and illegal but completely unsafe on a public street. Between the two...give me a car that will do 0-60 in 2 seconds. Pin my head back on the headrest at launch and dare me to take it off while accelerating. That's where the fun is...stoplight to stoplight!!!

Yeah... I feel what your saying...it probably took that little v-6 forever to hit that speed...NOT...it did not take long at all,you should probably drive one,I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

I haven't driven one, but I understand it will beat most of the stock V-8s from back in the day. Those V-6s are strong machines and will run their butts off. What I was trying to say is that most people like to THINK about how fast they could go, but will never be given the opportunity to find out. Even if they did, they probably wouldn't and most likely SHOULDN'T!! I doubt the majority of Camaro drivers out there today have a clue how to handle their car at top speed.

You are spot on about the HP v. torque. Torque is key to "feel" on the street.

I've had mine to 126 on a very long straight road. And there was no one around but God. This thing felt good at 126, but that fast in a car well it's Stupid!
