Ordered from Small town dealer, got questions they cant answer, please help!!

OK, I went to the dealer yesterday and ordered 2ss/rs Silver w/ Grey rally stripes.

I called him today to confirm that the order was placed with GM, and he said it in the system, but can not be finalized, he said it was on preliminary order?? This guy did not seem the most knowledge able, but any way, he said that he did not know why it did not go completely threw, but had to contact the regional manager, on Monday as he was gone for the day. Does this mean I will probably miss the March 15th cut off for pre-order? This dealer was given 3 slots, he said one was dealer order, one was a different customer, and I was number 3. If any one can clue me in on the process, please help. I dont care if I dont get it until dec or later, I just want to know if I'll get it. Thanks.

He should be able to give you a copy of the workbench form that shows your name, address, car and all the options and a series of 6 letters that is your order number. If you have that, you should be golden.

guess I'm screwed, I don't have that. I have a 12 page print out from 'GM Autobook", a copy of the receipt, and binder, but no 6 digit order number.

do you use the order number to track your order through GM once the site goes live?

You might not be screwed. All I got at first was the autobook printout because there is only one person at my dealer (small on also) who inputs orders into Workbench. I would call them tomorrow and make sure they can guarantee you that you will get the pre-order pricing and code on your window sticker.

No. No way to track orders online. You track them through your dealer and there is also a GM 800 number that you can try, but results are mixed.

thanks camaropete,
that does sound the same, I call today and he had to check with "some name I don't remember" about placing the orders. I will call tomorrow, and ask about workbench. Thanks again.

That's what I am saying. There are some dealers on here who might track it for you, but the best way is going to be through your dealer (unless GM has something totally new planned on the updated Camaro site).

You are welcome. Yep. Lots of small dealers just have one person that handles all the order entry stuff.

make sure he used the Camaro "Quick order" screen

It really isn't typical for a dealership to give a copy of order workbench and an order number....thats something that has been a trend because of the camaro forums. BUt it DOES gain trust!

You should be able to clear this up on Saturday. The same exact thing happened to me last week. I ordered almost the same car as you, and received the same autobook printout as proof. When I asked about the WorkBench printout, he said my order was not submitted to WorkBench yet, and probably wouldn't until next month. I completely freaked out!!! I threatened to drop my order if they didn't get me a WorkBench printout that same day. Turns out my salesman didn't know what he was talking about and the "ordering guy" (different guy) already placed it into WorkBench. They faxed me the paperwork and all was good. I hope your situation has the same good results. But you definitely need to get it resolved by Saturday...or no "Pre-Order". Good Luck!

OK, I went back to the dealer today, and got the OrderWorkbench print out, it has a 6 letter sequence after the "Preliminary Order Detail - Order # XXXXXX". I guess this means I got in before the dead line, now I just sit and wait.......

and super60,
no problem on the support, GM is how I was raised.
