The Corvette guys set another amazing time with the 2012 Z06. Goes to show how much performance was left on the table and is finally being realized. 3 secs behind the ZR1, 2 secs ahead of the GT-R

A Z06 with the Z07 suspension really is THE performance bargain of the world. You get very similar performance of the $110,000 ZR1 for about $25K less. Very few cars in the world can match the braking, acceleration, and handling of a Z07 equipped Z06 car.

Do you guys think that the ZR1 is worth the extra money over the Z06? My impression is yes, but they are very different feeling vehicles. I just wish the ZR1 didn't have the window on the hood! Don't like! I also can't wait to see the new interior upgrades on the 'vettes when the 2012s finally come out!

Awesome lap by the Z06 BTW!

When your reaching the performance potential these cars are.....it gets very pricy to extract more and keep the price down.

I think the ZR1 is worth it, but the Z06 is an amazing bargain that is much more attainable to a wider buyer pool. I may never get the chance to own a ZR1 but was lucky enough to buy a used Z06 just due to supply/demand/depreciation in 2009.

it is. Look at the track times. This is the $100,000 ($98,000) Z07 version. Hardly cheap. Still surprised a $4x,000 car can give it a run for its money!!!
