Fbodfather - Does GM Consider Camaro A Success?

I know as consumers we consider the Camaro a homerun success and I believe that we could not be happier with the decision that GM made to return the Camaro to production.

Now with that being said, how does GM see the Camaro as a corporation? Has it met thier goals for sales and do they see a future product that they can continue to invest R&D money into? Has the Camaro had any negative impact to GM that has been adjusted or will be?

Just very curious to know how GM feels about the Camaro as we all know how the public feels about it.

There's a 6th gen on the way, so apparently GM thinks it's a sound investment.

IS the 6th gen on the way or will the Gen5 do an 8 year run? Gen2 was around for something like 12 years... Gen3... A decade? And so on. So has the plan for 2014 of Gen6 been confirmed?

It'll arrive around mid-decade.

The time when generations lasted forever are pretty much over. Technology and the competition move too fast for that.

Hell, look at the Impala. Introduced for the 2006 model year and it was already stale by 2009. It's still stale, even with the new LFX.

From what I've read, the 5th generation Camaro exceeded GMs expectations.

Its kicking the Mustang's butt. How could it not be an overwhelming success?

I look for the Gen6 to appear 1 year after the next Mustang which is scheduled for the 2014 model year. GM isn't going to let Mustang go a couple of years uncontested this time.

Well the latest Impala never really was that inspired. It was more of a "utilitarian" car. But the big old heavy 6.2L engine and Zeta platform will have to go sooner rather than later due to increasing fuel prices and emissions standards. As long as they can make whatever engine they have sound better than those fart can imports. I'll be happy

I thought the Gen 6 Camaro was coming in 2014 as a 2015 model... That said the camaro is one great car.

Mustang has to come out with it's new body style for 2014 because of age and having the 50 year anniversary model.

I would think GM would at least wait 1 year (a 2015 model) to adjust/modify it's Gen6 body based on the public appeal of the 2014 Mustang before releasing.

What do you want to bet that the 50th Anniversary model will just be a face-lifted model?

There is no way the next Camaro sees the light of day before 2017. GM has the top dog now and they're gonna milk it.

The lack of a response from Fbodfather on this question is a little worrisome...or maybe I'm reading into it too much?
