Shifter in the ZL1 Automatic

Does anyone know what the Automatic Shifter knob will look like in the ZL1? Will they be using the standard SS auto shifter knob or will it be getting it's own shifter like the manual shifter knob? Fbodfather has said that the auto is worth looking at in the ZL1, just kind of curious about the shifter and how it might look and feel.

There was an interior picture of a text mule with the auto but it's anyone's guess if that is the same shifter nob

Yes Mark, I went back and looked through all of my pictures and saw those pictures that showed the AT paper on the dash. But like you said it was in a red 2010 test mule with the stock SS interior and shifter. I was hoping someone might have seen an auto ZL1 somewhere or seen parts at the plant during the tours and open house a couple of weeks ago. I think that both of the red ZL1's on tour right now are manuals.

The only ZL1 at the plant open house was a red manual trans car.

..well, remember back in the day the pistol grip shifter handles? Maybe it could be a light sabre handle with a push button for hyper drive (turbo boost)...heh-heh...all joking aside, very good question Jedi.....inquiring minds wanna know.

Pistol Grip was a Mopar thing, not a Camaro thing.

I never really liked the look of either tranny knobs up to now. The M6 knob we've been shown looks cool, but I'm not sure I'll like the feel. Of course, I haven't grabbed one, so I don't really know, but I've already conceeded to an aftermarket shifter anyways, and they usually come with knobs, so unless the short-throw in the ZL1 is really that good, I'll probably be swapping anyways.

JMVHO. I'll definately be holding onto the ZL1 shifter, though, and keep it as a momento or something like that

GM just annouced that they will listen to customers and that a AT will be available, that was June 11th...So I don't think that the shifter has been showned yet.

Now, that would be very cool, to have a break away light saber as a shifter grip. For emergency purposes only of course !!!! Like if you happen to run into a Dark Vaderstang on a lonely road somewhere.

GM has not even announced what automatic transmission they will use in the ZL1. They will not even confirm/deny if it is the same transmission used in the CTS-V. So no one knows what the shift knob will look like at this point. I suspect it will be different from the stock one used in the V6 and SS.

I'd hope so, but why wouldn't it be the the 6L90 from the V lol?
