Question College Kid Needs Some Advice :help:

First of all, I want to thank all of you for all the info and advice that has been shared on this forum! I've been reading regularly the past couple weeks and have even been on occasionally in the past year. Thank you!

I joined the forum today hoping to get some advice. I've been dreaming of a Camaro since they rolled it out for the first time. I'm finally to a point where I can finance one and my dream come true. But here's also where I'm in need of some advice. I've gotten into contact with the Internet sales manager at a nearby Chevy dealer. I wanted a brand new Camaro, however he told me he just got one in that's basically good as new. It's a black LT with RS, convenience and connectivity, the Boston Acoustics system, and automatic. It has between 2300 and 2400 miles on it. He told me on the phone they have it listed right about $27500. Now, I was wondering if anybody new about what invoice on it should be or what's a fair price?? I know on the Chevy site msrp on a brand new one identical to this is about $29200. I've been told that even $27000 is high and to try to get the person I'm in contact with to send me a copy of the invoice or at the very least a picture of the window sticker. Any advice on this would b very much aprreciated! Thanks in advance! And if you have any questions please just let me know.

The price listed on the chevy website is MSRP. So yea your sales guy isn't really giving you a good price. First thing I would do is go to the dealership and check the car out, it'd only take an hour or so out of your day and it'd be worth it. While you're there I'd get a copy of the window sticker/build sheet.

2,300 ish miles is not new, that's a broken in engine. You should ask him if the car was used as a demo, loaner, etc. Because if those were 2,300 miles of poor driving they could have done damage to the engine.

If you want a new camaro and can swing it then go for it, the worst thing you can do is get the used one and a year or so later wish you had gotten the new one.

You can get at least $800 off the sticker price. As a first-time buyer, I would recommend you find a trustworthy dealer on Camaro5. These dealers tend to treat members with respect and offer a fair deal.

Ask for invoice or less. If your dealer cannot show you the invoice price on a GM invoice document, then you need to go elsewhere.

My friend bought a 2011 LT new with 180 mi put on it (driven from Indiana to Forest Park dealer), with RS Package, Convenience and Connectivity Package, Moon-Roof, for 27K before taxes. That is too high, I would try to workout a better deal. If you were closer I would have you take a look at mine since I'm looking to sell.

I think you missed the point of what Blur was saying: get a new dealer, one who isn't going to mark up the price just because your a kid.

Ok, for the second comment I have checked the fair dealers list and this is Classic Chevy in Grapevine, TX which is a recommended, fair price dealer.

As to the first, that's a good point. I was wondering why someone would trade in so early, that was definitely curious to me off the bat. I'll definitely look into that more. The problem with checking the car out personally is it's about a 5-6 hour drive to Grapevine from where I live, so the fewer trips the better (ideally 1). And as for what all packages and equipment are included on it I don't think I could afford a brand new one just like it without a 0% APR finance which probably isn't happening for a college kid. Especially with the RS package. I thought I could live without but in the past few weeks after all of y'all's input on the resale, appeal, and just downright lovability of it I don't that I can think that way again. I always loved those halo HID's but now I sprung on the 20" wheels and Pirelli P Zeros.

Some other details I should've included: it is a certified preowned, he said because of that I get an extra 1 year / 12000 miles bumper to bumper so in total 48 months / 48000 miles which is better than a brand new one?? He also said for the first 2 years / 30000 miles my oil changes, tire rotations, etc. are covered and that was something GM just started this month. So I don't know if verified says anything to your "what happened in that first 2300 miles?" or not?
