Boston Acoustics 9 speakers system. NOT

I have a 1SS with the Boston Acoustics speakers. Come to find out that the 2 tweeters at the top of the door are not BA tweeters. They are the same part # as my wifes 1LS factory tweeter part #. WTF?
I was under the impression that the BA system was to be a 9 speaker system. 2 tweeters, 2 door speakers, 2 rear deck speakers / with subs and 1 center dash speaker. That makes 9. Well if the tweeters aren't BA then we're getting ripped. The system is only 7 speakers from BA.
I checked all the speakers because i am planning on upgrading my wifes LS to Boston Acoustics.

When i was deciding which car to buy on the lot, i test drove an LS with the stock sound system. At another dealership, I just wanted to sit in a car an listen to the BA system to hear the difference. I wasn't impressed. It didn't sound bad, just not an impressive difference from the pretty damn good stock system.

Is it possible that Boston Acoustics also makes the factory tweeters? Can you tell the manufacturer from the PN?

I took both tweeters out of the vehicles and held them side by side and they both have the identical part #'s. GM made. All the other speakers have a BA stamp on them instead of the GM stamp. The tweeters did not.

Yes, the BA upgrade is junk. They aren't even true BA components. You can do much better in the aftermarket and for much less.

This was first discovered/mentioned way back in April 2009 when people starting getting their cars.

What you are finding makes sense. I have certainly not been impressed with the BA sound system.

Huh, did not know that. Didn't know about the tweeters either. Is it false advertising if there's a BA badge on the tweeter casing itself?

I knew that information. If you count those (4) plus the 2 door speakers and then 1 dash speakers, that only comes to 7 speakers. So where do they get 9 BA speakers from? If the twqeeters arer Gm, not BA.

Whoa learn something new here on Camaro5 everyday.This one isn't good.:( Half deaf anyway so the system sounds allright here.
Not to steal the thread but reminiscing back to the 70's. The first upgrade to my '74 T/A to go with a Cassette Deck blasting Classic Rock. Oops it wasn't classic then!

Explains why the biggest weakness if the system is, in my opinion, the highs up front (or lack of). It was the number1 reason I ripped out the factory speakers.
