If your engine is stock, use what GM recommends. They set the clearances. The fact that you have a supercharger on top doesn't change anything. "Heavier" oil isn't any tougher....it's just harder to get it where it needs to go. More oil pressure isn't necessarily better.

10W30 Mobil 1.

GM balances durability and fuel economy in their selection of oil, my concerns do not include fuel economy. 10W30 does have a higher film strength than 5W30, and if 5W30 isn't too "thick" at -20F, then 10W30 is just fine the rest of the year.

My builder/tuner recommended it. I'll pass your concerns along.

No concerns. Very little difference between the 5W and 10W 30. They're both 30 wt oils at operating temperature. My comments were aimed at the guys running 40 and 50 wt oils in a motor designed for 30 wt oil. I run 50 wt oil in a built LS2 motor simply because that's what the builder told me to run. He set the clearances. The General built my LS3. He set the clearances. He told me to run a 30 wt oil. Hmmmm.

I do run heavier oils in some high mileage (200,000+) engines. No way would I do it in a stock, low mile, LS engine.

As a point of reference, Ford recommends 5W20 for the 5.0 GT and 5W50 for the Boss 302 and GT500.

The 15w-50 Mobil1 is a different formulation, it has a higher anti-wear additive package and still has zinc... Proven to stand up better in the harsher environments of the turbo and SC engines... Every oil viscosity has it own shear strength and pressure limits etc.

I am running 15w-50 btw...
