Brakes

I have a 2010 LT with 37K miles and my mechanic says the brakes (esp. the rear ones) are already shot...and worst of all...he says the rotors are so thin that they can't even be turned down once. He is trying to sell me an aftermarket thicker set of rotors. Anyone have any history of mileage with the Camaro's brakes? I do not abuse brakes, and find it hard to believe they are really this bad already...but more amazed about what he tells me about the OEM rotors.

I honestly don't have a ton of experience with the LT brakes but the SS brakes hold up well. I do have a 2009 Cobalt SS and the rear rotors and pads are shot at 24K miles. I know GM claims 100K on some of these applications but I've seen them wearing much quicker.

Kind regards,

Jack the car up and inspect them yourself. Unless you have the right measurement calipers, you can't get an exact measurement on the rotor width but you can tell if they're abnormally thin. You should be able to tell if the pads are thin as well.
