Need Suggestions! Time to paint stripes.
Ok, well I finally found a place to have my stripes painted on. A guy I work with had them work his 95 Camaro and has known the shop owner for a long time. They are a collision center but do lots of custom paint as well. The painter has been there for a long time and and everyone in the shop is PPG certified. They are a local shop that has been in business for 27 years and offer a lifetime warranty on their paint work. I am going by this week to talk with the painter and see some of his work. Soo......it's decision time for me. I am definitely getting stock style white rallys on the hood, decklid, & spoiler. I am going to have them blend the stripes and re-clear so they are flush. I plan to go with a glossy white rather than flat in a PPG paint. Any suggestions on the shade of white/type of paint to use? Just gloss white? Pearl white?
The other decision I have to make is whether to stop the hood stripes at the front of the hood or to have them extended onto the front fascia (stopping at the frontend lip above the grill). The car is not a SS so no mail slot. Also do I stop the decklid stripes on the top of the spoiler or go down the back edge of it? If anybody has any suggestions or pictures they could post it would be much appreciated. I plan to have the work done about 3 weeks. Thanks for any suggestions and input. -infernoman2011 |

I have wrestled with this since day one. ( 4 1/2 months ).
What I have decided is; if I do add stripes they will be White Diamond ( a Cadilac Pearl White ). I am almost pulled the trigger this past week while getting my new hood and mailslot fill in painted; however decided to hold til I see how the new hood looks in IMO only. Here is a post on how a member did these stripes : http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29532 Hope this helps. Personaly I like the stripes on the decks only. The full stripes just do not remind me of an Old School Camaro.

Let the painter help ya. The guys working with the paints know what goes together better than us that don't.
+1 on the pearl paint, and maybe......throw in a little gold metal flake. PS.... Post pictures when completed!

As Hot Rod suggested, get suggestions from the painter for something different. I have a SIM with black painted stripes with just a touch of sapphire blue pearl over the black. You don't see the dark blue until the light comes from the right direction. Subtle but different.
