ATTENTION GM BRASS!! Message from Canada :D

Hello everyone, I know there are quite a few GM employees and amazing people at that on this forum associated with GM, the brand I have been proud to call mine since my first car (Chevy Celebrity!!) I'm writing this because my faith in your company has been lost. And I thought my insight into why may help GM someday rise from the ashes of the unfortunate hole in the ground it's become. Imagine your in your mid 20's, you have a decent and secure job, with lots of opportunity for overtime....so you sacrifice freinds, family, relationships, all for the evil almighty dollar....because you think it's going to lead you to something special, something so many of you are going to get to experience, and I couldn't be happier for you....up until a week ago I thought I was going to be able to rejoice with you, then I got a phone call....from my dealer.....he says "unfortunately we don't know if we can build your car"....I thought this strange as my order has been in since December, I was within the dealers originally alotted cars, I'd even forked over 1000 of that evil almighty dollar to "hold my place in line"....and the day of production just as I'm at my peak I'm told that "due to V8 constraints in Canada, we probably won't get to buil your car this year, the 2 people ahead of you with v8's are getting theres, we're putting "your" v6 in place of "your" v8, would you like to buy that?" my answer was no......so heres what I don't understand, and why I'm so angry.....Everyone knows this company is in trouble and needs to sell cars....I want to buy the car....I've given my money in faith that GM will deliver....they're already saying they won't....and it's not just my dealer, all the dealers, all the help lines, they all say the same thing pretty much.....tough sh**.......so for the average tax payer I'm a touch angry that my hard earned, taxed money is paying to keep your doors open, and you won't even let me buy a car that you've allegedly already sold to me....and the kicker, I LIVE IN OSHAWA!!! lol, I have freinds and family building the car! who ALL know I'm getting the Camaro because it's all I've been able to talk about....it's going to be embarrassing telling them I'm not anymore. Well thanks for reading, if anyone thinks I have this backwards I'm all open for criticism, comments, and help, even though none seems to be available. Thanks again to all the great GM people and non GM people for that matter on this forum, I know you'll all be SO happy with your cars....I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm going to buy a Challenger :(....a couple weeks worth of showers will hopefully clear away the dirty feeling lol

Camo, sorry for your experience, but I wonder if your anger is wrongly directed. This sounds to me like the dealer may be dicking you over. Have you spoken with any other dealers? GM is going to be pumping these cars out. And I think everyone is going to be surprised with how many they get out and how quickly they get out (all with great quality). So I find it strange that your dealer is saying that GM can't build your V8. I would look around a bit and try to control your anger until you confirm who it should be directed at. Just a thought.

I've talked to every dealer in my area, they all say the same thing, I called the customer service number off the GM canada web site and she also told me the same thing...."very good chance it won't get built, would you take a v6?, can you wait until next year?"....I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but the hammer's cocked

Camo - can you please call around first before assuming that your dealer knows what he is talking about? The Matrix just got his car built and I know someone here in Ottawa that is getting his car next month.

I understand you guys discomfort in Camo putting this kind of dealer milestone on a forum ... but hey If his dealer isn't his first and foremost GM representative than who should he direct his anger at ? Looks to me like he's phrasing such a sensitive U-turn of a pre-order in a rather polite and orderly manner no ? What better place than a forum like this one to put this kind of thing to the light ? I dont think your dealer is right. I will call my dealer asap tommorow but i am not sure why your dealer told you that.
Let us know, we're all here to help out. Dont jump and make a bad decision, give it a couple of days and im sure we'll be able to get answers for you.

Very good chance it wont get built. That doesnt seem certain but i would be alarmed too. Im going to ask my dealer how many allocation he has left, ask him about the SS thing and get back to you, i thought all preorders would have been built by October,

CAM here is my story with a little happier ending but this will show you dont always trust your dealer!!!!

I went to my dealer on 12FEB09 and pre ordered my 2010 Camaro. I never recieved an order number and knew nothing about it until I joined this website and was seeing how alot of people had their order number. I called my dealer a few times a week later asking them for my order number. They informed me that I wouldn t get that until a week before they start building my car. So I took them at their word. Well I asked scotty camaro and a few other people about this and they advised me to go to the dealer. Today I took a trip to the dealer and went straight to the man in charge and asked him what the deal was. His response was "wait you never recieved an order number you should of gotten that before you left my lot" I WENT NUCLEAR. Alot of yelling and screaming went on between me the dealer and the salesperson, alot of name calling done by my part to the sales person that I wont mention on here. Bottom line was what happened the salesperson never submitted my order into the system and they claimed I fell through the cracks. My guess was that half these sales people have no friggin Idea what they are doing or talking about so if your dealing with one that is not giving you the answers that give you the warm and fuzzy I would advise you going straight to the top. Im not saying all sales people are bad but im saying this one I was dealing with was a moron. Anyway after going Nuclear on them before I walked out of the dealer I had his slot which was 4 ahead of mine and a free car cover. Im not all excited about the car cover but I am excited I moved up 4 positions in the pecking order of my dealership and I now have my customer print out of my order. Im going to leave the dealers name out of this because they did make what they did wrong right. Im not sure it was because I had them backed into a corner or that it was an honest mistake who knows. I can now sleep sound at night.

Hey man, my dealer doesnt have any alllocations for V8s left, if your dealer does can you hook us up?? I think I can get my deposit back.
