is it possible to drive a manual and have it always feel as smooth as an automatic?

so I've been driving stick for 3 years now and I drive a lot. I feel that I have gotten very proficient at the shifting. However, I feel that it's nearly impossible to drive a stick exactly as smoothly as an automatic transmission, particularly if you are shifting at higher RPMs.

Please excuse me if this is a dumb post and I am just a crappy stick driver haha.

Depends on exactly what you mean.

Noticeably or absolute?

I guess I mean absolute but like I said at the higher RPMs it's definitely in the noticeable range not bad but noticeable.

If you know the engagement point on the clutch pedal and have good coordination with the gas pedal, it is very easy to shift smoother than an automatic.

Stick feels better to me; I love the slow transition between gears. I wish I could drive it but I will admit that automatic is nice at times.

I'd say depends on a number of things. The car, clutch, tranny, etc ........

I used to start out every morning in my 18 wheeler shifting flawlessly.

As the day wore on, I got a little more pissed and a little more and more pissed and by the end of the day I was slamming them like a band new kid driver.

You just have to tak your time and concentrate.
