Question about EPA mileage figures

I was just on the Camaro build your own site and got to thinking about the mileage figures on the various engines. I know that all of the motors will run on 87 octane fuel, but can anyone tell me if the EPA tests were done with 87 octane or premium fuel?

EPA certification tests are done on Indolene which is comparable to 93 (R+M)/2 octane.

Thanks. I guess that means that the figures for mileage, as well as horsepower, are as high as they can be based upon type of fuel used.

I would guess this is the case with the SS / V8 models as this is the factory recommended fuel.

But "regular unleaded" is recommended for the V6 so I would assume this is what was used for it's EPA figures. V6 should have even better MPG potential running on premium.

premium in cali is 91, so i wonder if it really takes a .5-1 mpg hit here. (not on paper though)
