Anyone work for the railroad? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I'm curious about RR transportation. LOL...and yes, this does pertain to guessing the ETA of my Camaro.

The best I can tell, and this is where I need some education, the cars leave Oshawa via rail and go to various distrubution centers..depending on which RR (UP or CSX)your car will be on, right?
Does the car(train) keep moving 24/7?
What's the average miles covered in a day, by a freight train?
In my case, UP will be the carrier; what will be the city of origin for a south bound train heading to the heartland?

Are these dumb and stupid questions???...maybe, but inquiring minds want to know![well, at least one little inquiring mind!]

Any info will be muchly appreciated. I have a copy of the UP dist. centers map, so I would like to see if I'm even in the right ball park with my guesstimation of the route my train will be taking.

it will make stops at various locations along the way..i would imagine will make an iterchange or two depending on the circumstances....but i know when tracking mine..it would update 1-2 sometimes 3 times a day moving through different locations/ states.
