Wax the Vinyl?
This is the first car that I've actually liked enough to bother waxing. Done it once already and want to give it another coat once the weather looks like it will be dry for a few days and I have time.
I was just wondering, with the vinyl racing stripes should you wax over the top of those or just leave the wax off of them? I waxed it the first time, but am wondering if that was the right move or not. I'm sure it won't hurt them, but wondering if anyone else has any insight. Thanks. Any other waxing tips? |

there is a video that Dylan@Adamspolishes.com made about how to care for the stripes. Its on here somewhere, but I believe he recommends not waxing them.

Unless you like faded stripes keep regular wax off of them. Maybe the detail gurus have something. I have a vinyl care spray that I use that protects as well.

I use Armor All on my vinyl, I highly recommend it. Keeps it flexible, black and shiny. Put on with a sponge in lenthwise passes, and do not wipe off. It will dry to a deep black shine.

Most vinyl manufacturers recommend not waxing. The petroleum solvents in the wax soften the adhesive and can promote peal off. The wax is not the problem, its the solvent.
