Stock 19" wheels & tires for roadcourse?
I've seen many postings about tire setups for autocross and road courses. The top recommendation for the cost is Forgestar F14 wheels. However, I'm on a tighter budget than even that.
I've seen on Craigslist and Ebay there are people selling their original 19" OEM wheels with tires and TPS for anywhere from $750-$1000. Do the OEM 19" wheels fit a 2SS and clear the Brembo brakes? Has anyone used these on the track? BTW - On 31JUL11, I took my 2SS to its first roadcourse (Putnam, IN). It was fabulous! However, I ate into my tires pretty quickly and need to save those for winter (I now use General Tire Pro-Max). Overall, I'm looking for a cheap, but functional, method to get a summer/racing set on my daily driver Camaro (54,000 miles on it already). Thanks for the advice in advance! |

Depends on what you really want. I use my 20's at Mid-Ohio and bought another set of rims and rubber on ebay for $1200 shipped.
You could look and see people selling them on here. If you aren't running for prize money and some sort of race standing, it could be cheaper to by oem rims and rubber on ebay or here. If you are actually trying for race standings and really are looking to reduce the unsprung weight, then I could see buying aftermarket 19" rims.. I am not 100% sure on theoem 19" rims, but i believe they clear the brembos.... ![]() in case you are interested: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=164675 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130024

Thanks for the post. I see your point and may do mid-Ohio next year. I appreciate the invite.
The main reason for the 19" oem is they are cheap now, not staggered and future tires are a lot cheaper for 19's than 20's. I'll letbyou know what I turn up. Chris |
