V6 Oil Pressure, what is everyone showing?

I finally got my gauge cluster and installed tonight. What is everyone showing on their gauge for oil pressure on the V6? At idle mine is about 25 psi, but as soon as the engine goes to 2000 rpms, it pegs the gauge at over 70 psi. Cruising in 6th gear at 1700 rpms or so it is running about 60 to 65 psi. If this is normal, why not a 90 psi gauge?

This has been documented before. All is good with what you are reporting.

Thanks everyone. I still wonder why they didn't design the gauge to go to 90 or 100 psi instead so you get an accurate reading when accelerating. Has anyone hooked up a mechanical gauge to see what this engine really has for pressure at high rpms? I'm just curious.

I was wondering the same thing myself. 25 is a reasonable idle pressure and could be something to do with the mechanics of VVT. As for 100psi it should be that way. 70psi max? Pssshhhhh.

Glad this thread exists as I was wondering the same thing.

Yesterday evening, I was "cruising" between 80-90 mph for quite a few miles and saw my oil pressure at 60-70 psi. I remember thinking to myself "hhhmmm...I wonder if that's normal" as I'm not accustomed to seeing any of my gauges at or near their peak reading (except when my old Honda overheated). When I slowed down to 65 mph, oil pressure returned to 30 -where it usually is under normal driving conditions. Phew!

I noticed the same thing when I first got my car. The general answer going around at that time was that the gauges were optimized for the v-8 and they used the same ones for the v-6 to save money.
