Cup Holder Project

So I bought these cup holders online and I'm trying to figure out where to put them... Both together won't fit on the original factory cup holder location due to the diameter, but at the same time, I kind of wanted to move the location since every time I put a cup or bottle there it gets in the way of shifting (I have manual transmission). So I'm thinking of placing them on each side of the center console, right forward of the shifter...

I got these in the mail and I'm amazed at the quality... the rubber insert is A+ and they have a red color led around the holder, under the chrome plate.

These are designed for boats; paid about 25 bucks each. Very high quality.

Those are nice, lighted too? Good luck with that project, I have no ideas as where to put them.

I found a good place for them. I'll update it with pictures once I complete it in a few days. Coming out pretty good so far.

Pretty sweet, you got a link for them. I think I would like to get them too. How did you mount them up?

Here's the link:
http://www.amazon.com/LED-Cup-Holder...4250619&sr=1-1

The holders do not get in the way at all. I'm 170lbs and 5'9". They might get in the way if you are fat! lol

Anyway, I cut a section of the console's trim, on each side, to put them as close as possible to the center. I used a metal "L" metal bracket to support the holders to the console (connected under the console). There are different option you can go... just gotta do some thinking. I just have to work on finding a way to cover the nuts under the cup holders. You can't see them unless you look under them, but it's there and I know it... I'll figure something out soon. But they look good. I was amazed on how they fit well there. You can open the glove compartment, put the hand break down and push the passenger seat forward no problem. And there is enough clearance to put cups there and it won't get in the way of the radio controls and gauges.

If you look at the last picture, you can see my leg on the left... clearly not on the way.

Very cool, I like the lights on them. I put them on my wishlist. Maybe my wife will get them for me.

I made some modifications to this... didn't relocate, just some touch-ups. Covered the original cup holders. I'll post pictures tomorrow. Right now I'm taking my @ss to bed. Enough time in the magic think box for today (My garage).
I'll also post pics of the brackets.

Updated photos of the brackets and minor details done yesterday.
Made a cover for the original cup holders and covered the cup holders with a leather-like rubber matting.
