Talking My Three 5th Gen Camaros!

I just got back from vacation to Colorado with my girl friend for only 6 days. As soon as I get off the plane in Colorado and see all the car rental places, I start to miss my car more then ever!! We pick Avis car rental. I'm at the counter renting the cheapest smallest car they have and they pull the up-sale on me, "would you like to upgrade to a midsize car?" I look and smile "not unless you have a Camaro!" I said jokingly. She smiles back and says "why yes we do!" I turned to my girlfriend with the biggest grin on my face. She said "your not really thinking about renting a Camaro are you?" So I rented a Camaro.

It turned out the only one that had out there at the time was a Black 2LT Automatic with California plates and a sun roof. Better then anything else in the parking lot by far so I was not complaining. Fast forward 20 mins after we left the airport and got the the 2nd red light. A guy pulls up next to me in a very nice Shelby gt500 and just gave me a thumbs up for nice car. My girlfriend said are you serious! People complement your car when its not even your car! I told her, Its because its a Camaro!

After driving it a few days I definitely miss having a 2ss but loved the gas mileage. I enjoyed the paddle shifters but was still sad about the stock power. It felt like driving around a Cruze in a Camaro's body. It was the first V6 Auto I have driven so it was my first impressions. After having it for 4 days, we were driving back to the hotel and got a flat tire on the right aft tire. It handled well with a flat and to my surprise it had a spare in the back! So I changed out the wheel fast and was thinking well better the rental then mine back home, I hope I got the flats out of my system!

I took her back to the airport in the morning because I didn't want to drive around on a tiny wheel. I parked her in the parking lot and walking inside I saw what my heart truly desired to drive on vacation. A Red 2ss Automatic Convertible! I rushed inside and asked if it was taken yet. So I left the airport with a 2ss Vert! I only had 2 more days to enjoy this so we had to make every min count. She was nearly brand new, only 3000 miles on her. This was the first Auto V8 I have driven so I had to take it though its paces. I loved this car, almost made me want to get a vert only that I have so much work done to mine that it was realistically out of the question, but I can dream. Again people every where staring the car down, yelling nice car giving me thumbs up. I get it allot in my car but its unlike any others out there so I can understand it. This is just pure Camaro and people love it, and so do I. The only Con to it was because we only had it for a few days I refused to put the top up, so I got sunburn on the left half of my face bad and not so bad on the right side and nice sunglasses tan. It was very worth it!

When I finaly got home and jumped in my Camaro and drove her around, I realized that I may love all Camaros but mine is still the best! After the trip my girlfriend, whos not a car person at all said "I am Camaro gril now, thanks to you!"

All in all I just live, breath, love Camaros!

Great story. Thanks for sharing. I hope I can rent a Camaro on my next trip! About the V6. I'll bet you they had low octane gas in it. It really does make a difference. Of course then if you own one & give it a new exhaust & a good cold air intake it really wakes up a lot. Just sayin'.

lucky... i tried to rent a camaro back in january when i was on vacation in florida. they reserved it for me and everything, when i got there to pick it up they said all of the camaros were sent back to the dealer because of some warranty bs. so i settled for a *cough* mustang.

I looked at buying a vert but out of my price range. if my jeep would have held out until spring i would have had a much bigger down payment and possibly a ss vert.

nice car btw

Opinions are great..doubt he really thought it felt/drove like a cruze tho..probably sees posts about the 2012 having a cruze wheel so he said it feels like a cruze, but he was in an '11 or '10...I respect his opinion

My opinion is that he is a v6 hater..nothing wrong with that

He's used to driving the SS so naturally he noticed a big difference when he "stepped down" to a V6. He didn't say he hated it.

Have you ever driven something besides the V6? Maybe you are a V8 hater. J/k we all know no one hates a V8
