It really depends on the dealer/service dept. Almost certainly your driveline. They will invent all sorts of reasons it voids a driveline warranty. And, I don't blame them. Too many idiots doing installs. However, I have developed good relations with dealers that would "overlook" things like that and help me out. Now, they could also void every waranty like power seats for example, saying you messed with the car, but they may be more inclined to honor that stuff. Ask your dealer. I do. Just say stright up, " if I put headers on my car, will you honor my waranty"? What if I pay you to do the install? I buy new cars knowing the waranty will likely be voided within 3 hours. But, I can fix just about anything. Good luck! Headers are so tempting aren't they

Going off the shop I work with, headers will not void the warranty of the car since it's not an 'engine' mod, but an exhaust mod.
However, I only know what I've been told so... |

I was told by my dealer in no uncertain terms yesterday that ANYTHING you change from factory specs under the hood/car voids the warranty. ANYTHING. However, he also told me he wasn't going to tell GM about my CAI, Exhaust, etc.

Right and here is an example of how they might get you.
Oh you have an exhaust mod? Surely it was tuned. No? It should have been. Yes? They ran it too lean, they disabled Tq Mgt (tranny, axle, rear etc), they had too much timing etc. Ask and see what they say, then expect they lie as a worse case scenario. If you can afford to fix everything on your own don't worry about it and you will be ok. If you can't you need to figure out if you really want those headers. Ark, you have parts I don't and will surely do much better than me at a dealer lol. I hope you don't take offense to that! |

Most basic answer... yes. But its very subjective depending on your dealer. Likewise, id be careful how you advertise it if you do ever go in for service... there are GM reps trolling the thread, I like to think they're here to help, but you never know ... GM signs their paycheck, not us...
There's the theory of just "flashing" your car back to stock and removing the headers if serious engine warranty is done, but I've been told by a GM Master mechanic if they're looking for it, they'll find how many times the computers been accessed/altered... basically your rolling the dice. On the other hand, how many of these cars have been in for power train issues stock? That's usually not a common problem, and I haven't heard of any repeat engine problems... my best advice is to give it a few months, make sure everything's operating fine on it, then go for it! You bought the car, should be able to enjoy it the way you want!
