Tracking the 6 digit order number?

Does anyone know how to track your 6 digit order number? My dealer really doesn't have a time frame for ETA. I put the order in 2 weeks ago, and he is saying mid-May, this seems to be pretty quick, almost too good to be true. I have also seen a Camaro site where you have to input your code from some letter, does anyone have information on that?

There is a 1800 number that you can calll but the results reported have been extremely poor. The best thing to do is to keep in touch with your dealer. Confirm your priority # with him. That is the number that ranks your order in relationship with the other Camaro orders at your dealer. Then ask him if he has any cars available on his concensus report. That is the report that says how many cars the dealer has been allocated for that can be built during a period. For example the last concensus report listed how many your dealer could order for production during the first two weeks of April. Unfortunatly, he can not have a crystal ball and predict how many will be on his next concensus so it would be impossible to predict exactly when yours would be built. So in summary, talk to dealer and verify your priority #. Then find out how many if any he currently has concensed for. and then follow up with him when the next concensus report comes out.

As josh said, be patient. Your dealer is the best way to get information on your order. The 800 number is hit-or-miss and many times they will direct you back to your dealer anyway. Welcome to the site! This is a great place with lots of great members and lots of great information. Pass the tme reading and enjoy!

Just hope that you have a dealer that is up to date with the ongoing events and status of your vehicle. That would help a great deal.

new hire information

I have been hearing about getting a number i.e. 3000. Where do you get that number from, does GM tell your dealer or something? I have also been hearing about a welcome package, is that something that everyone gets mailed out once they place a order with deposit? I think GM would make it easier on everyone if they had some sort of way to track your own order, kind of like online shopping...

The welcome package is only if you ordered prior to last Monday (16th) which it appears you did. It will come automatically but don't be surprised if it takes 4-6 weeks. It's nothing "earth shattering" but it is a cool rendering by one of the original designers Sangyup Lee (sp) and a thank you letter for your order.

There is no way to track your order on your own. Your dealer is your best friend- if not, MAKE him your best friend, or at least make him do his job and update you AS THINGS CHANGE. That does not mean be a PITA calling/emailing your dealer every day because sometimes you remain at a level, especially 1100, for weeks before anything happens. As far as the "3000" search out event codes here. Your order starts at event code 1100 and progresses through to 5000 (delivered to dealer) and 6000 (delivered to customer). 3000 is the first production level code; 3800 (produced with VIN) is the last in that series.

Those codes are correct for all GM vehicles. I believe that they update every Tuesday. Once a vehicle goes to the 3000 range you will have a build date quickly. Once you have a build date, the event codes become less important due the shipping of the vehicle. The reason 3100 is important is because the TPW (Target Production Week) becomes more certain and it could jump to 3800 by the next update. Your dealer can give you this update and should do it willingly.

You could call them, have them return your call, call them back, wait on hold for several minutes and have them tell you they could transfer you to someone's voice mail. Oh, by the way, that is all the information we have at this time. So you have no information? That is correct Sir. Oh,Ok.
