exhaust upgrade from chevy

hey guys i have a 2012 2lt/rs coming into to me i was wondering if anyone knew what the 800ish dollar exhaust upgrade from the dealer does to the v6. i am not a super car guy so i am not going to go crazy with my new car and take it to someone to trick it out. but i was wondering if its kinda worth it?? with sound and any better performance?

FWIW, you will be disappointed in the stock exhaust sound. Just listless and unimpressive.

Not worth it. Do a search. They're selling you an axleback, I believe. You can get a full catback for that price. Check out Solo as one example.

MRT version 2 is a nice cheaper axleback that will sound better. Note that pretty much any change in exhaust setup may create a drone at lower RPM's. Do your homework.

Don't buy exhaust from the dealer. It won't satisfy you most likely and it costs a pretty penny.

Pick up a used catback for that price. Corsa, Borla and stainless works are pretty popular.

I was just in a conversation with my dealer and parts dept. They told me they have 3 levels of exhaust systems available for the Camaro and it depends on what model and engine you have. I believe they quoted me 1,400 installed for my "on the way" 2ss/rs. I am still looking around. I need to hear it before I buy.

Hey Johng57, I bought the same thing you did on the exhaust. They told me 1400 but I got them to go 1200 on it. My 2ss rs is "on the way" as well, taking it's sweet time too. If you get your car in before me you will have to put a video up or something! Let me know how It sounds! I'll do the same! Mine is bayed day #15 yesterday. Hope for a miracle later today haha.

Dealer exhaust upgrade severely not worth it.
I had the the GMPP exhaust which was mufflers and tail pipes put on with part of the free accessories money that was allotted on the 2010 and what a disappointment it was. Do what the others are saying and get yourself a catback or something else.
I have the 2ss/rs and would never do it all over again.
Big disappointment

The Exhaust that I am getting and have ordered Havnaparty is a Corsa catback exhaust, dual exits, new mufflers, and an upgraded air intake plus another thing or two. It gets the car pretty loud and increases the horsepower quite a bit from what I am told, even before a dyno. I know someone at my dealership that has had this done to their camaro ss convertible(2011) and they had to modify it a little, but the sound was not modified and it sounds great. I know what you are talking about on your car, and my dealer was like look man, I know you and those do not really give you anything but sound, if that..But yeah..this is a new setup from chevy and corsa working together from what I am told by my dealer. Sorry you had such bad luck with your exhausts man. Get it worked out?

Hey, haha that's pretty nice. I'll roll with it sounding like that any day of the week. Is that the exact package I'm talking about?

I have a TPW of 9/19 - you're way ahead of me.... So you first!
I have been looking at the Stainless Works Retro Chambered Catback, It sound pretty sweet. Apex Chase has sound bytes up in here. But I'm going to wait until I start mine up for the first time.
