to wave or not to wave - that is the question

so - after two corvettes (2005 and 2008) I have ordered a Camaro. tired of the grandchildren fighting over who gets to ride with "Pa" in the fast car.

vette owners have this thing they do. when passing another vette on the street, it's considered polite to wave to the other driver, and quite rude to ignore him or her. kind of like when I was young and import drivers (I have owned two Triumphs, an MGB, a FIAT Brava, a European Capri, and an E-Type Jaguar) would flash our headlights at other import drivers (there were no Japanese imports at the time for those of you who were curious). We flashed our headlights because cars made in America at that time did not have the "flash to pass" feature.

so, to wave or not to wave at other Camaro drivers? I want to be polite. maybe start a new tradition.

by the way, when you wave, it is considered polite to use all five fingers on one hand.

I always wave, and 90% of the time I get a wave back. Every Camaro owner I know does it, too. Day before yesterday I got a double thumbs-up from an LS, and sometimes I even talk to other owners if we're at the same light together or pull into a parking lot at the same time.

I am pretty sure the tradition started when the Gen5's came out. If I am in my camaro and I see another one on the road, I stick my hand out and wave. I usually wave to all generations of camaros.

This has been discussed here a number of times. Many do it, many don't. I wave or flash headlights most of the time. I've also had other Camaros rev their engine if going in opposite directions in town.

hard to tell if most are waving or not because most of these camaro owners have tints in the 20% or greater range

I usually give the finger and then throw a handful of change at your car.

I'd wave to fellow motorcyclists on the road, but I've never waved at a person in the same car as me.

Funny thing about motorcycles- 50-60% of guys on cruisers and Harley's don't wave back to guys on sport bikes. They're "too cool" I guess.

I've noticed that the RS and SS owners wave back more than the LS owners. Some people are Camaro enthusiasts; others just got the car 'cause it's sexy.

I am sorry to all LS owners but if you drive an LS i look down on you and here is why. (Most if not all on this forum i am not speaking too. If you are on this forum you ARE a camaro enthusiast btw) I know it is more but what 2 grand more?. So people who normal buy the LS just buy it as a fashion trend and are not real car or camaro people. I may pre judge here but its like ever other car or "hot" car its just a fancy car. So they buy the lowest cheapest trim level. To most of us on here it is are passion are love we are true car people and true camaro enthusiasts. Thus if you have black heritage wheels i am wary of you for i do not want to waist my time. On someone who buys a car like its a purse . Sorry no disrespect to any LS owner on here i understand not ever one has the budget to get a 1LT RS or even an 1SS. And people will even by a 1SS and not "get it" but 9 times out of 10 this is the case with an LS camaro from my observations. My .02 cents
