First Test & Tune - Torq Drag Spec T750 -Whipple, Pfadt and more (video inside!)

(Video at the bottom of the page)

So last night we finally got the car out for some shakedown runs! The weather was pretty hot (85*) and humid but at least there was no rain We were on site for some track side assistance being such a new set-up, and it gave us a great opportunity to run some data logs down the 1/4 and also to gather plenty of data/video of the how the suspension/tire set-up is working. Kinda hard to that from the drivers seat

The car in question is our latest Drag Spec Project, Steven's 2010 L99 as seen here

Build Thread: Whipplecharged Drag Pak L99 by TORQ!

  • Pfadt Adjustable Rear Tie-Rod & Trailing Arms

This was the first time out ever with this set-up for both the customer and ourselves, so it was going to be an exciting night. Going from a stock suspension car running on stock tires, to a full Big/skinny set-up, 120+ rwhp, converter and a PROPER drag spec suspension (Great job Pfadt Racing!) is a pretty big step!

We were extremely excited about testing the all new Pfadt Racing Drag Coil-Overs, especially on a build like this that is both street and track driven. Driving on the street with the proper setting worked like a charm, no noises and honestly very comfortable. Prior to arriving at the track, we had already set up a decent baseline on the suspension to run with. With the 4 runs we got in we just made a few adjustments to see what the set-up was liking. The car did exactly what is was supposed to do, and really transferred all that weight in a controlled and very smooth manor. A few clicks here, a few clicks there and then also saving all the data is an important tool to help dial the suspension in properly. We feel we gathered a lot of great data, and the the first run out resulted in a 1.61 60ft! But believe me when I say it has much more in it. The car also left dead straight with the adjustments we made! Pfadt did their homework on this set-up and we should be seeing some lower 60' and lower ET's very soon.

Here is a quick photo of the launch, you can see the live launch in the video below!

So anywho, we got 4 runs in before they closed the track and each pass went faster and faster which is amazing considering the heat! We ran an 11.7, 11.6, 11.4 and finally an 11.0 and had a higher MPH every run, even when hot lapping it. Steven was getting more and more comfortable with the car, and had we been able to run one more run with a longer cool down we would have seen 10.9X no problem. Next time though!

We were also amazed on how relatively cool it was running considering the ambient temps/humidity and hot lapping it, these Whipples are AWESOME when it comes to low IAT's.

Everythiing worked in harmony and very well together, the converter is a perfect match to the powerband with our camshaft ad the Whipple, and their was no shortage of traction! Can't wait for the next test & tune!

Congrats to our good friend and customer Steven for setting some awesome times, and we shall see those 10's very soon.

Here is a link to the video, I tried embedding it but I think youtube is a little slow today? Thanks for reading! /Erik

Nice!

You should have more 60 foot in it no doubt, I went 1.61 w/ stock size nitto 555 drag radials out back, same boost level, stock internals stock converter 536rwhp. Try bringing it up a little on the launch I found that helped get me into the boost a little and resulted in better 60 foot times than flashing the converter. Are you shifting into 5th before the traps w/ the 3:73`s? If not what do you have the shift point set to from 4th to 5th?

Good luck guys it shure looks nice on the launch!

For sure! I spoke with Steven a little about how to launch it and we should see some major improvements next time out. The car leaves so clean with the suspension set-up so it can take a lot more then she was given.

She stays in 4th the whole way through, and still has like 900rpm to go.

We have a little more tinkering around to do but that is what Test & Tune's about

Thanks!

/Erik

7500RPM...crossing the the line at 6550 with this tire and the 3.73 gear but should cross around 6800 give or take once the car is fully dialed in
