ECS Supercharger Kit Goes 10.12 - Stock Bottom End

First off, big thanks goes to the entire Team ECS crew. All of us pulled together this week to put this combination together (Last minute as usual).

Huge thanks goes out to our supporters; Frank @ Driveshaft Shop provided us a custom length 1-piece aluminum driveshaft & level 5 axles. Nick/Anthony/Louie & the rest of the crew over at American Racing Headers sent out their entire exhaust system including ARH 2" LTs, High-Flow Cats w/ Xpipe & their axle back (Just perfect for a street car). Julio at Alky Control provided the excellent ECS Alky Control Gen 5 Methanol Kit. Thanks to Gary & Rob for hosting the track rental today, too bad we got there at 1PM.

We arrived at Atco very late, so we had to rush into a few passes. The car has a bone stock suspension with just coilovers running on stock front 20" Pirellis & 18" C6Z rims with 305/35/18 Mickey Thompson Street II Radials. We removed the back seat & passenger seat, past that this car is full weight PLUS the supercharger kit.

Took us a while to figure out how to launch this pig considering there is NO suspension/drivetrain work besides just a set of Pfadt street coilovers. The transbrake/2step was useless, so we resorted to the foot brake.

We are very pleased with the results considering that we are using our base kit with the Paxton 1500 head unit. Small blower compared to most of the 9 second capable cars.

The car has a Stock Bottom End, Stock Cylinder Heads that have never been removed.

Details on the vehicle:

2011 SS
- ECS Base Supercharger Kit featuring Paxton Novi 1500 Head Unit
- ECS Big Blower Camshaft Package
- ECS Alky Control Methanol Kit
- Driveshaft Shop 1 Piece Custom Aluminum Driveshaft
- Driveshaft Shop Level 5 Axle Kit
- American Racing Headers 2" Longtube Headers, High-Flow Catted X-Pipe, Axle Back Mufflers
- Pfadt Street Coilovers
- Stock front Pirellis ; M/T Drag Radials on C6Z Rims (305/35/18)
- ECS TH350 transmission

As the slip reads:

1.587 60'

6.520 1/8
108.74 1/8 MPH

10.12 1/4
137.50 MPH

Mike is preparing the video tonight so we can post it later on.

A TH350 can be built to handle a pretty strong load but it isn't as strong as a built TH400. It's geared slightly lower with a 2.52 1st gear compared to a 2.48 1st on a TH400 assuming stock gearing.

If built right they can take a beating.....a near stock one would be a bad choice for the weight of our cars if you can put a lot of power down.....no locking converter either so for my pampered butt this would be race car only these days.

The th350 is a lighter trans also so there are advantages. The heavy weight of the car might be more ideal for a 400, but this is what we had. This is a pure street car that we just had an idea couple days ago to do this.

It is amazing that we are tapping on a 9 with a Novi 1500 I'm quite impressed.

Thanks for the info Matt. I'm just trying to do my due diligence. A true street car still has the 6l80 in it.

This is a pure street car that we just had an idea couple days ago to do this. Converter is a vigilante that was designed for a 3k lbs. Car not a 4200+ pig.

When we hit the transbrake and 2step even at 3k it fried the mickeys. Needs trailing arms, toe rods, bushing kit.. Doug was easing it out of the hole off half throttle footbrake and modulating... I would love to really use the power potential.

It is amazing that we are tapping on a 9 with a Novi 1500 I'm quite impressed and we are going to push it there. We need to work everything out before the shootouts.

I purchased this car as a manual trans car. I knew an auto would turn into another race car and I wanted a manual. So this is best of both worlds, put the auto in for month or so during best race season. Then put the fun manual back in. It unbolts and changes in couple of hours. Nothing cut even uses the stock crossmember.

Plus its fine on the street. If I run the 3.45 set with the mickeys its fine for highway driving and definitely around town. So I get to be lazy 2 months a year on the street

Thanks Supercharged ss.. Seems like you had some good times today too, congrads.

The arh crew went low 9s at 150+ .

One of our hardcore edition vettes in six speed manual street trim driving on street from track with same mickeys went 10.0 at 150 haha.

Talk to me more about this........it's that easy of a changeover? Mounts etc are the same? What are you using for a shifter? Any pics?

I assume the driveshafts must be different lengths?

Hey Huffer.. Sorry posting from my blackberry no pics here. Shifter is a cheetah scs, we haven't done the console fab yet, we ran off some spacers and used the factory bolt locations. We will probably end up using a stealth bandit that is what we use in the vettes. We are looking for a clean look. The scs is just massive but once again we had one at shop.

We also fabbed an extension off the factory crossmember to hold the trans mount to trans. This is just bolted through the original trans member so you can unbolt when we remove trans. We have our own locking shorty dipsticks from our c5/c6 glide kits so we used one of those instead of firewall mount. Easy to check this dipstick under the car.

The th350 short tail works out to be 3/4" longer. Frank at driveshaft shop whipped this one up for us so you can call us or Frank to get one made. The driveshaft ts perfect, no whining or vibration from it.

There will not be one cut to this car! I will also be street driving this for the next month of racing too

I ask because my car is a stick too...and honestly for street driving and such I would like to keep it that way.....so in the summer when it's 100 degrees I could have the M6 in the car because I am not going to the track in that heat but during "race" season, now thru Nov and then Feb to April I could run the auto.

You've given me something to think about....don't break your balls on it but if you end up snapping any pics I'd love to see the trans mount.
