(updates) Lots of hate on other car forums
I was looking at mustang and BMW m3 forums. There is definetly alot of hate for the zl1 ring time. At fist they thought the time was phony. Then after the video the mustang guys are saying the gt500 and Boss 302 could pull off a 7:3x run on the ring. Then the BMW m3 guys pull off the classic excuse "I didnt buy my 70k M3 for performance" even though ther could buy a similar looking 3 series for 30k. The moral is there is alot of hatred for a camaro pulling off this kind of performance.
The latest from the 350z forum: "It beat cars it shouldn't have. Something's fishy.. " SVTperformance.com: "Beating out an F430 seems completely ridiculous to me at the weight this car is at, I'm thinking they pulled a Porsche and took the best times out of all the sectors together. Let me know when magazines get to put it head to head against the 302 and GT500 on the Streets of Willow, or Laguna Seca."

Mustangs are ugly and they smell funny. Mouths melt when looking at my car. They don't even notice a mustang in the lot and if they did they would just be thinking "this car stinks".....

I'm not really sure of what I'm more excited about. My new ZL1 or the first time I sneak up on a GT or whatever gets in my way.

OK, settle down, class is in session. The lesson for today is on how to gloat with subtlety and panache. When approaching the owner of a performance vehicle costing considerably more than our ZL1, and considering that said owner has always looked down their noses at the *ahem* "commoner's" Camaro, always show their cars respect. For example: "Wow, isn't that an M3 ? Those are amazing machines, beautiful car..." .................................. (Long pause, let him brag on his car if he wants. ..........................After he starts to relax, the sting of the whip will be greater.) ................... "It can almost keep up with this Fire-Breathing Camaro, and that's nothing to be ashamed of." .................................................. ........... .... .....![]() Extreme backhanded compliment: CHECK Extra points if you can drive away while his mouth is still open. ..... ![]() .

Jealous people lol. I was on the fence about the ZL1 because I was sure the weight would drag it down, but after the recent info being 580 horses and it's amazing ring time, I'm hoping back on the ZL1 train lol.

Why would you talk smack when your manufacture doesn't even have a time on the ring to talk about. Mustang owners.

Well the M3 is not really built for pure performance like the ZL1.
I like both the M3 and the ZL1 and I say they are very different cars, both are very fine cars, too. IMO the targeted buyer of the M3 and ZL1 are not the same so no point liking one and bashing the other. The LSA is a beautiful engine and the S65 V8 on the E92 M3 is great too. |

The CTS-V had the same response from BMW guys with it's time at the ring. I had a V before my SS and I loved it. Wish I could've bought another one. The ZL1 and CTS-V times show how AWESOME these LS powered cars can be.
