SS sometimes hesitant to start? "Open, then close drivers window"? What's wrong?

I have a couple of issues with my L99, which I believe are related but not sure what the exact problem is.

The car is occasionally difficult to start. On older cars I've had dead batteries, bad alternators....this isn't quite the same behavior. You turn the key, it sort of clicks once and sounds like it's about to fire up, but then doesn't. If it doesn't start normally on the first try, I turn the key back and try again....on the second try it either fires right up...or does nothing (no click, no start). Worst case scenario, it does fire up fine the third time. This doesn't occur nearly every time I start the car...but it's often enough to be annoying, doubly so if I have a passenger or I'm leaving a crowded place and a bunch of people are watching. If there's any variable involved, I do feel like this is MOST likely to occur if I'm starting the car shortly after turning it off (such as after running into a store). Some sort of "heat soak" crossed my mind, as I know this was an issue with previous generations. I'm not sure if there's a warranty solution for this....and not 100% heat soak is the issue since it sometimes happens as much as an hour after turning the car off. However, NEVER first thing in the morning or the end of a workday. Could just be a coincidence...

I also have been getting a message that says "Open, then close driver's window"...this has happened a few times, and I'm not sure if the correlation is 100%- but it often seems to be after one of these weak start-ups.

Twice when this happened, the little indicator light on the gauge cluster in the shape of a lock was lit up until I shut the car off. I think this light is consistent with your alarm having gone off, or some sort of security issue. It's not on any more, but I think it's orange and has a car with a pic of a lock in front of it. I think the issue was related.

Take the car to the dealers, most definitely if it's under warranty!

The window issue sounds like a indexing issue… Did you disconnect the battery recently? Mine did that a couple times after I disconnected the battery for the long tube install. Check the terminal post connections make sure they are tight.

The no start thing, I'm not sure

Sounds like a battery issue? Get it to your dealer.

May have something to do with the Body Control Module. You migt try disconnecting the battery for minute or so. You'll have to index the windows and set the radio again. If that fails take it to a dealer.

Best window index thread

I used method 1 in the below thread. Worked like a charm! Good luck.

tonight after working a 10 hour shift i went to my car and tried to start it, the display flashed then went off. I tried a second time then i got a message that the park assist wasnt available, trying a third time i got the window message but the windows wouldnt go down, i opened the drivers door the window did its normal 1/2 inch jog down, then i was able to roll the driver window down then up, it then wanted the passenger window done the same way, after that the display lit up with 0MPH and i could start the car, i took the car immediately to the dealer where it will spend the night. While driving at 40 MPH the car wanted the windows done again, so i did and all was well except for a check engine light, we will see what they find, i will post the result

Yep, sounds like a BCM issue. Had mine malfunction at around 85k or so. $600 to repair...

Turns out to have been a loose connection at the under hood fuse panel, glad it was simple
