Is this the Ashen Gray ZL1?? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Maybe this has already been covered but.. This is the image that we all assumed was the Cyber Gray Metallic. I feel that it would be safe to assume that since there is no CGM in 2012 that this is the Ashen Gray Metallic? It's possible that they'd be testing in a color that isn't going to be available..but not likely. Thoughts??

I think it could be either, it's hard to tell. Just because a color is out of production doesn't mean they stop using it when testing vehicles. Case in point, there was a camouflaged ABM ZL1 spotted a while back and that color had been out of production for a long time. They just happened to have an ABM shell around and decided to turn it into a ZL1.

With that being said, this particular car is not camo'd at all, almost like they are advertising the new color. It does appear to be a tad darker than CGM too, a color characteristic that fbodfather mentioned about Ashen Gray.

Either way, all I know is that is one BMF!

Good points, and you may be correct. The apparent overcast in the picture makes it difficult due to the lack of contrast with the light. It does seem "richer" as in fbodfather's description. A BMF for shure!

Looks exactly like my CGM SS parked outside. My vote is CGM.

If the colors or really THAT close to each other, that's a good thing, cause I was pretty mad when CGM got cancelled

Is there a car out there right now that features ashen gray? Maybe a buick at the dealership? I really want to see the color in person first...

I do believe it is on Impalas. Or maybe it was the Malibu? Anyways it is out there

I dont know if it is CGM or Ashlan, but I do know one thing, I want to see some more pics of the ZL1 in white. The only pics of white we have are a tease and not the best quality, I would like to see some high def pics, with the new grill and all the badging.

I think GM had such a hit with CGM that they tried to recreate something very close to CGM.

Ashen Gray Metallic will be available on a few cars, but it's a completely new color for 2012.....and Yes, the Impala is one of the cars it will be on. I saw a link to a website that had which cars it was going to be on....I'll try to find it again and post it back here.
