Those with Headers. Cats or No Cats?

How much HP am I loosing by getting headers with cats? Are you guys getting a lot of smell? I had a little in my C5 Vette and that was with Hi Flow cats.

Are you getting Long tubes or shorties?

I kept my stock headers and installed solo hi-flows with a borla atak cat back. A little smell but a happy medium between LTH and stock set up... I am guessing with a cai I probably added 30 to 50 HP at the fly wheel...

Not sure if you mentioned not having the tune is insinuating that a tune will help - but if you are enlighten me.

Long tubes. I was going to get cutouts and leave the stock manifolds but I was told that is not a great bang for the buck.

What I like about my setup was a nice little HP gain but better yet a much improved exhaust note. Plus I feel the best thing was I didnt throw a CEL and didnt need a tune...Just my preference.

Also the GM design on the stock headers are not to bad. Just ugly and heavy! The cat is what really holds the stock system up.

It may help, Im not 100% sure though. Maybe someone with a tune will chime in and say it helped a bit?

LT's always need a tune to maximize performance.

SLP longtubes with high flow cats here into the stock pipes back to the axle along with Fastlane Pipeline cai and GMPP axleback, with a Jannetty tune to ice the cake. No smell at all and the car runs NOTICEABLY stronger than stock. Money well spent IMO.
