Flowmaster AMT...Thoughts

I did a search but didnt really find what i was looking for so i'll ask here. So i just recently got my 2SS and im planning for my first mod. An exhaust. So i wanted to know who out there has the AMT what feedback can u provide. Pros and cons. Would u recommend it for an L99? Drone, if any. Did u get it welded or just bolted on? Price? any regrets with it...etc

IMO it is the best sounding exhaust there is and you wont find another for a better price and I would easily recommend it over much much higher priced systems that sound terrible. It is not raspy, tinny or obnoxious in the least. It has the good ol deep sound. I've got a total of $640 wrapped up in the purchase and install. IMO there is minimal drone and the little bit that there is, is negligible. The system comes with band clamps that work great. There is no need to weld.

The navydood above me pretty much wrapped up my thoughts as well.

Must be all us prior squids thinking alike.

You can't go wrong with that exhaust man. Iv'e got it on my L99 and it sounds amazing. Without a tune you may hear some drone when the AFM kicks on.

Best "Musclecar" sounding one out there! Also a great value as you are not paying for polished stainless (not that it is really visible anyway). As said above, with the AFM/no tune you will get a noticeable drone. You can get around that by paddle shifting though.

quiet when you cruise with minimal drone when the AFM kick on ( i disable the AFM on manual mode with the trick 1-2-1 or 2-3-2, ..., bye bye drone) awesome at WOT. easy installation and nice price. i love it !!

there really isn't any terrible sounding exhaust on the market, its to hard to make a chevy v8 sound bad with just a cat back or axle back.

I have it with LT headers, no cats. Sounds awesome, but the drone kills me at cruising speed. Definitely the best sounding though. If your car is your DD, I would look into something else like borla sport or corsa. I've had my exhaust for over a year now and I'm looking into buying new exhaust.

It's got a relatively deep tone, but it is a bit on the quiet side bolted on behind the stock manifolds/cats. I had zero drone, but I also don't have an L99.

Now that I have ARH headers and high flow cats, the Flowmasters have a lot more bark without being too over the top. A tiny bit of RPM/load dependent drone, but really not bad at all.

It's all dependant upon what a person likes. There is a difference between sounding decent, good, great or just plain abnoxious. Pretty much everything I have heard falls into all the categories other than great.

Thanks for the great real world review of the Flowmaster American Thunder kit for the Camaro! There are some great deals out there on the American Thunder Cat-Back and Axle-Back and they are easy to install for you or a shop. This makes labor time minimal if you have a shop install it for you. Either way, it’s a great deal and you get a 409S Stainless Steel system with a Lifetime Warranty.
