Carbon Fiber Insert

Has there been any additional info on the stripe package for the exposed carbon hood insert. I know Scott posted the stripe package for the exposed carbon insert will be dark grey instead of black, but will it be satin like the black version or will it have a higher gloss to match the exposed carbon clear coat? Will it be a faux carbon look or just solid grey? Ordering is only a couple days away and this is a question we need the answer to prior to orders being placed.

.

He also indicated that we can change our orders after we have seen what up to now has been unseen, such as the Ashen Grey and the exposed CF stripes.

Production doesn't begin until the beginning of the year, so there is time to ammend the order. I would make sure your dealer allows this.

Order what you think you want and don't worry. You can change it if you see it later & want to go a different route.

All of the vinyl stripes so far have been a semi-flat / satin finish. Most likely the same for the gray, just a change in color not material.

I'd really like to see a picture or at least get a better description of the color. I'm thinking this combination is what I will order.

I believe certain stripes on the SS, like white, are glossy and are able to be waxed like any clearcoated surface.

Personally, I think the stripe should be glossy to match the glossy surface of the exposed carbon fiber insert. I guess we'll see.

Yes that is what I was hoping, the stripes would be glossy to match the exposed clear coat carbon fiber. This should be addressed before ordering, this should not be a "order the way you want and see how it comes out" as this is a material change to the appearance of the vehicle. The good thing is, no matter what, it is going to look awesome and I should jut be grateful that I have allocation. Nonetheless, for the price (whatever that may be) I want it exactly the way I want.

Im going to order the car without the center stripe first to see how it looks. I always can get the body shop to paint the stripe to match the Mohawk. Seems like that would be better in the long run!

Wouldn't it be nice if the dealerships would have a large screen that could display images of the cars/trucks life size, where we could look at all the color combinations available and see what they would look like to help us choose?

Sorta like what Chevrolet has on their web site when you build your own, only much larger?

It shouldn't be all that hard to do.

I hate trying to judge what it looks like when looking at a small picture on my monitor.

You are right, I should have said all of the dark stripes have been matte/semi-flat finish.

GM should post pics of items/varations for these options. They have to be finalized by now.

Question. Please tell me if I am wrong. The clear coated finish carbon fiber weave is optional. The black painted CF hood is standard with black vinyl stripe. Thats the only two choices. Or did I miss something? Thanks...

-The exposed CF weave is optional.
-If you order the stripe package with the standard black CF hood, the stripe is matte / satin black.
-If you order the stripe package with the optional exposed CF weave, the stripe becomes dark gray.

That's all we know. We are wondering what color the dark gray stripe is, if it is solid gray, and what the sheen is.

I would hope that the dark gray stripe would match the exposed carbon fiber weave in both sheen and color, otherwise the stripe and hood insert would not match, and that would look odd.

The optional exposed CH hood insert SHOULD be a glossy clear coat like the ZR1 roof and the pictures of the Ashen Gray ZL1 Convertible. I am not sure how a glossy stripe will look on some colors. I am going to get mine without the stripe and let the exposed hood insert stand on it's own against the Crystal Red.
