2011 Pace Car or 45th Anniv.
I have the opportunity to purchase either a 2011 Indy Pace Car conv. or a 45th Anniv. conv. Both have headsup display.
The Indy car is about $4,000 less as they want to clear out the 2011 even though it is a limited production. What is everyones thoughts besides the obvious of buying both? |

Not much folks here will be able to help ya much... it is all a personal preference thing and depends on what you plan to do with it, how much you plan to drive it, whether you like the looks of them, and whether you like being seen in them.
The pace car is a limited production vehicle where the 45th isn't. Just because it is limited edition doesn't mean it will shoot up in value though. If driven heavy, mod'ed/altered, etc it won't keep as good a value as if it was kept original, garaged, undriven. I would say that the 45th is more practical of a vehicle for daily/weekend use from a value standpoint. I personally think the logoing down the side looks tacky, though it is truly retro and true to its origins. I wouldn't like driving it all over the place like I DO enjoy driving my vert. As I said above... is all about what you like and want. If you want it for an investment... buy the pace car and put it into storage to be driven short distances extremely rarely or to trilor it to car shows. (I know I might be in the minority here, but that is the only way to get most out of it as an investment) |

Your comments truly put things in the right perspective and the 45th Ann. would make a very good daily driver which one could enjoy. The Indy is pretty much something that should be left for a collector.
Thankyou very much. |

The logos peel right off if you don't want to drive around with them on... Buy an extra set and tuck them away. Then you have the best of both worlds... I modded the heck out of my Pace Car and enjoyed the car just like it was any other SS. I bought it with full intentions that I would not treat it as a collector car. You just have to go into it with that in mind and enjoy the car however you want and don't worry what others say. Either way you're making a great choice.. |

Yeah, my post was intended as more of a caution to assess what you are intending to do with it and what you like... not the vehicle itself.
If you plan to drive the heck out of it, but love the looks of the Pace Car, snag it. Look at the cost, and if it is appropriate to your desires and means don't worry about trying to save it for someone else to collect, do what is right for your needs and desires... after all it is your money and your vehicle! There are some really cool aspects to the Pace Car edition that you get as part of the package (full body stripes, unique interior door and dash panels, etc). As was mentioned in one of the previous posts, if ya don't like the decals, you can strip them off the car. No waffling here, just wanting to make sure you assess the purchase for what you like and want to get out of it. I am sure that you'll be happy with either selection ... or with a different vert or coupe ... they are a blast! |

Thank you for your comments especially to GnyaTek.
I purchased the 45t Anniv. late this afternoon. It was really the best choice and value being a year newer with some great additions such as the backup camera. A second year of production too may have worked out some of the bugs from the initial year. I also ordered the ground effects in the matching paint which should be here the end of next week. I am thrilled. I will post some pictures as soon as I take delivery. It is an awaesome car and I love everything about it especially the interior. Thanks again |

if you think about it at a cost analysis standpoint, it would have mad emore sense to buy the pacecar. regardless of whether you modded it or not, or whether you made it your daily or not.
In the end, 30 years from now, the pace car would be much more valuable than the 45th even if you modded and daily drove it. Its still a pace car and its still limited production. If you bought a 45th and a pace car, and drove the same miles in both, and did the same mods to both, the pace car would still be worth more after 30 years. plus you coulda saved an initial 4 grand on it :P lol. However, the decision is made. congrats on your car man. enjoy it!

The dealer has been sitting on the 2011 Pace Car and with winter coming here is lowering the price. I am tempted to buy it as well and keep it as an investment. It does make me wonder why someone else has not snapped it up by now? There are also a lot of new 2011 Pace Cars on E-bay at not a bad price. Does this car really have value as a collector or should it be considered a daily driver?
