Visibility, do you get used to it?

Hey, Camaro people. I looking for some inside info from the people who actually live with the new Camaro for a while and hopefully people who take the car to the track and have a little more of a track geek perspective. What is your opinion on the visibility of the car in a track/autocross environment.

I currently drive a BMW Z4M Coupe which is kind of a claustrophobic car itself. It's a little like sitting in the ****pit of a fighter jet. I don't mind a tight cabin but in the M you can still see over the hood and it's pretty easy to tell where your wheels are. I test drove the Camaro and while I didn't feel it was as bad as some people would make it out to be I did think that it was really hard to tell where I was putting my front tire in an apex.

I am currently cross shopping the Mustang 5.0 and Camaro SS. The Challenger while fun, is off my list because it's just too huge. Off the floor the Mustang is a lot more track friendly but I come from a family of Camaro owners so I'm kinda' partial to the SS. I was the only one of my siblings who decided they wanted to turn corners and went the Euro route but now that these cars are starting to be able to hustle around the track I'm feeling like I could finally embrace my heritage, haha. I like the styling better and the IDR suspension of the Camaro and I know these cars can handle with a little tweaking but I am not sure I can get past the visibility issue.

Any opinions from someone who tosses their car around the track?

Not a track person personally but for everday driving its not as bad as most made it out to be initially. I probably just got use to it, but take one for a test drive and see for your self if visibility is an issue. Good luck with the decision.

I have had no issues on the track, a few mirror adjustments and I'm totally comfortable. I was used to a big pickup truck with no blind spots and adapted pretty quickly.

Not a track person, but when I first test drove a Camaro I thought, 'No way. I could never get used to this visibility... lack of visibility.'

Now after 3000 miles in the first six weeks, mostly driving from Georgia to Pennsylvania in all kinds of highway traffic, from a crawl to 85...

I am totally comfortable with it.

Can't say for track.
For road use it's something you just have to adjust to.
The mirrors obviously (as is with any car) should be adjusted properly at all times.
In addition to this I find myself moving around when checking mirrors to get a bigger view of what is around me.

It's amazing getting used to a Camaro with its limited visibility and then sitting in a SUV or some other normal car... You wonder how the hell people claim to have "blind spots". LOL

Once you get the feel for it you'll love it. As stated, mirror adjustment is everything.

IF, and this is a big if because most people don't, you set your mirrors correctly you shouldn't have a problem with blind spots. I've had zero issues with visibility during auto-x or the track. I mean with auto-x it's just you and the cones out there so nothing really bad can happen per say. Then for the track you're just looking straight ahead.
