Camaros at quality hold

For those of us that have been their cars at step 3800 told that it will be 3-4 weeks before they ship due to quality contol checks, this is what I found out; Whenever an issue is discovered, (I.E.. a flaw in the paint, blot that failed a stress test...etc), then cars producted behind it is put on hold until the issue is resolved. (this may only affect a few cars)! Now I work in a manufacturing environment and know that when a flaw in our product is found, we put any possible affected product on hold for a quality review board. What this means to us is that GM is dedicated to delivering us a high quality product and I for one am very thankful they are doing it; After all, I would rather be driving my car when I get it and not having it in the shop every other week! So we need to be patient for the next several weeks for those of us on this hold.

Tight QC is ok by me! They built a lot of cars prior to March 16th, but new issues are always going to crop up. Sounds like, as fbodfather said, they really want to get this car right. Like, Pete, makes me happier than a pig.....
Waiting patiently and saving my pennies. Sh!t, already at this point, my payment is going to be significantly less than I initially thought.

This sounds very plausible. They want to make srue that all cars are perfect.

I went digging for info when I called the GM 1-800 number to get a update on the status of my 2SS and the info I got was that mine would br goimg through quality inpections and won't ship for another 3-4 weeks. I also read a few threads that other people were told this, so I had a face to face talk with the fleet manager to find out what inspections would take 3-4 weeks! The above answer is what I got and I'm sasified with it that it's true! Hopefully it wont take to long and mine will ship earlier!

When I ordered my C/E, it sat in a quality hold for over a month (almost 6 weeks).

Anybody that ordered an F-body toward the end of 8/01 and whose car was built around the beginning to middle of 10/01 knows what I'm talking about.
They had a problem with the left lower door hinge nutplates on the body. They had to check all the cars before they could ship them.

I couldn't get any real info from anybody, so I Googled Ste. Therese and got a phone number. I called the plant and spoke to a nice gentleman there who was very good about getting me info about my car. I don't remember what he did there. I DO know he didn't have to do any of that for me. He even called me from time to time to give me updates. He was a really nice guy.

That makes good sense and explains why the wait.

Yes we received an e-mail as well from our zone manager about delays because of quality control issues but the reason was not given. I am happy they are getting any problems fixed correctly now instead on have problems this truly shows how dedicated GM is to delivering the highest quality vehicle.

Well in a phone conversation with my friend in R&D there is a gate problem with the V8 6 speed manual from reverse to first.
I was told he would not type that and it is not something they are talking about.
I only have this as a verbal and am not responsable if this is incorrect information.
And I know my spelling stinks!

The Mole squashed this one... optical illusion due to the thick clear plastic on the panels.
