What are the best valve springs to run?

Hi guys,

Im new to the site and just picked up a 2010 Camaro with some bolt ons.

I was reading around on some threads and im trying to see what are a good set of valve springs? The 5 day I had the car my brother in law drove the car down the street and over reved the motor and bent pushrods!!!!!

I was talking to my mechanic buddy and he said I should upgrade the valve springs to help with this issue. Any suggestions?

Thanks guys!!

BTW.. Dont let anyone ever drive your car!!

The factory valve springs are just fine. He must have gone into 2nd gear at 80 MPH? That is pretty crazy! Have you done anything else to the car?

you should not be bending rods. make sure there is a rev limiter intact and dont let people drive your car. dont replace your springs, just wasted money. put stronger pushrods in if you are worried about it. comp cams make a good set.

So next time you can bend your valves instead of easy to change push rods. Lol

Btw, likely the car was downshifted instead of up shifted which will cause a mechanical over rev. Putting stiffer springs in wont help that really. It would not hurt to put better springs in so you could rev it a little higher without valve float. But if you don't really plan on doing many mods to it, your just pissing up a rope and wasting money.

What blower do you have on it and what is the rev-limiter set to? Valve springs are a waste in most cases unless you're planning on a camshaft but being in CA you're walking a fine line already.

I bought the car from someone in Tx, Lethal Performance did all the work on the car, and to tell you the truth I never heard a rev limiter when he was driving

I would get some factory pushrods and get it back together; then get the tune checked out. You honestly shouldn't be going past 6500 RPM and depending on the blower some stop making power at 5500-6000...

Please feel free to call, email or PM me anytime with questions. Good luck.

Has it been cammed? If not and has the factory cam then the oem springs are what you want.
Other than that we like to run PAC

I just took out 2 spark plugs and the ground wire is pushed into the center wire. I will take some pictures and post them up.

You might have more problems than you think... Do you have a complete mod list? How exactly did he manage to over rev the engine? I'd guess 3rd to 4th shift gone bad into 2nd.
